300 South Media Group was started with indie writers and authors in mind. Being a self-published author myself, I understand just how much of an undertaking creating a platform for your writing can be, how much goes into promoting yourself, and just how tedious the process is of creating a professional book to be proud of.
300 South follows the 3 pillars of perfection: Platform, Process, and Promo

tion. If you are a writer, no matter if you are just starting out on your journey or you are about to hit publish on a manuscript, 300 South can help.

You don't need expensive software or even fancy notebooks to be a writer.

I wrote my first screenplay in a 1-subject spiral notebook.

This may save you years of confusion.

You can't compare your success to another writer's when you've started from different places, and are traveling along unique paths.

I finally finished reading this anthology and am honored to share the pages with so many talented writers, some of who I know and others new to me. This is an absolutely beautiful collection of pieces put together by Jay Long of 300 South Publishing and I highly recommend giving it a read.

It was disheartening to hear the Barnes & Noble CEO, James Daunt being open to AI written books being sold in stores.

Especially when the chain's policies rarely allow books written by indie authors to hold space on their shelves.

That feels a bit backward.

At the time, I held full judgement hoping to hear or read the entire interview because oftentimes things like that are taken out of context.

I wasn't able to find a full interview, but the backlash caused Daunt to clarify his statements.

The follow-up included several factors that would need to be met.

For Barnes and Noble to stock AI-generated books, there needs to be a clear customer demand, the books need clear AI-written labeling, do not plagiarize, and are published by reputable publishers. With that said, Daunt concluded that he believes it's very unlikely there will be significant demand for AI-written books, or that reputable publishers will release them.

I felt the clarification wiped away any thought there'd be immediate inclusion of AI-written books on Barnes and Noble shelves.

In a way, it also providee some understanding as to why more indie books arent readily available in-store----the demand just isn’t there.

And all that means is that online sales are more beneficial for indie authors. There's no gatekeeping or mandatory sales numbers.

Here is a quick reference guide to help indie authors better understand the differences in an editor's function:

1. Developmental Editor

What they do: They look at the "big picture" of your book, shaping the plot, pacing, character arcs, and overall structure.

Why you need them: To make sure your story actually makes sense, flows well, and doesn't have major plot holes before you polish the writing.

2. Line Editor

What they do: They focus on your writing style, voice, and flow at the paragraph and sentence level.

Why you need them: To elevate your language, tighten your phrasing, and ensure your unique author voice comes through clearly.

3. Copy Editor

What they do: They fix the technical mechanics of your writing—grammar, punctuation, spelling, and timeline consistency.

Why you need them: To clean up errors that distract readers and ensure your book follows industry style rules (like capitalization and hyphenation).

4. Proofreader

What they do:They act as the final defense, checking the formatted book layout for any lingering typos or formatting glitches.

Why you need them: To catch the tiny mistakes that slipped through earlier rounds so your book looks completely flawless and professional before launch.

Heads up to all my fellow page owners & creators 🚨

We talked about this last week, but it’s escalating, and I want everyone clear on it: The image was just since 6 PM yesterday.

There’s a phishing sc@m going around that looks 100% real because the email actually comes from Facebook itself.

What sc@mmers are doing:
They found a loophole in Facebook’s automated “business partnership” feature. They create a fake page or business, but set the business name to be a malicious link.

When they send you a partnership request, Facebook’s system auto-generates a legit notification from a real Facebook email address. The second it’s sent, the sc@mmer cancels the request on their end.

The trap: You get the official email, but when you check Business Suite, the request is gone because they canceled it. Many people assume the email is safe and click the business name in the email to “see who it was”, and that link leads to a fake login page designed to steal your account.

How to protect yourself:

✅️ Never trust the email alone.
✅️ Always verify requests by logging into Business Suite manually.
✅️ Don’t click email links.
If it’s not in Business Suite > Requests, it’s not real.
✅️ Delete the email.
✅️ Turn on 2FA for yourself and every admin on your page. This is your best safety net.
✅️Warn your team.
✅️ Make sure anyone with page access knows this sc@m.

I’m sharing because our inbox got hit with 1000+ of these. It’s targeting creators hard right now.

Stay safe. Let’s keep each other protected.
