Hey Everyone! Today is the official launch of my book: "Start a Religion Stay Out of Jail".
This book came about after I won a National Competition on a blind submission - The Northwind Writing Award. Out of this award came an offer for publication from Raw Earth Ink Press.
“Start a Religion Stay Out of Jail” is a collection of darkly comic stories that are the perfect antidote to the troubling times we live in. Influences on this work are: Kurt Vonnegut, Milan Kundera, and Kafka.
If you take a look at the cover you will see that it's a National Enquirer style tabloid. It occurred to me one day that we are now living in a world where these type of bizarre news stories that once graced the cover of the Enquirer are now routinely shared as “facts”.' Cover by Ana Cissa Pinto.
I'd LOVE for you to check it out and pick up a copy. Support small press! Support the Arts!
You can purchase it here. And PLEASE leave a review. https://a.co/d/2Lgpbxq

This year’s competition was strong with nearly eight hundred submissions sent in and our judges both enjoyed and were challenged by each piece. Categories were: Prose Poetry, Poetry, Fiction, and Non-fiction/Essay/Memoir. Each piece was graded on quality/caliber, emotion, style/imagery, capture attention/surprise, and uniqueness/memorability. Judges blind-read each piece without knowing the author or who any of the other judges were, to keep it as unbiased as possible. Without further ado, Raw Earth Ink, the editors, and judges are proud to present the 2024 winners to you.
