Montserrado county Senators Recommend Suspension of GLS Cargo Concession Amid Co***ne Investigation

By Junior Payne

Monrovia, Liberia – June 2026: Two members of the Liberian Senate, Senator Saah H. Joseph and Senator Abraham Darius Dillon of Montserrado County, have jointly recommended the suspension of the GLS (GLS Menzies) cargo-handling concession at Roberts International Airport (RIA) pending the outcome of an ongoing co***ne seizure investigation.

According to the communication addressed to Senate President Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, security forces intercepted approximately 237.6 kilograms of co***ne, valued at US$19.2 million, at the GLS Menzies warehouse on June 8, 2026. The Joint National Security Investigative Task Force has reportedly identified GLS General Manager Paul J. King and Security Manager Philip Yeoh as persons of interest.

The senators argued that temporarily suspending the concession is a precautionary measure aimed at protecting the integrity of the investigation, preserving evidence, and maintaining Liberia’s reputation as a trusted aviation and trade partner. They emphasized that the recommendation is not a presumption of guilt and that the concession could be restored if GLS and its officials are cleared of any wrongdoing.

The communication concludes with a call for the Senate Plenary to take swift action on the recommendation.

Monrovia, Liberia – R**e defendant Peter Bond Jallah has pleaded not guilty to charges brought against him at Criminal Court “E” at the Temple of Justice, following his arraignment in open court.

Peter Jallah made his initial appearance before the court where the charges were read in line with criminal procedure. In response, he denied the allegations, setting the stage for a full trial in which both the prosecution and defense will present their cases.

The court is expected to establish a trial schedule in the coming hearings, which may include motions, witness testimonies, and presentation of evidence.

The case is being heard at the Temple of Justice under Criminal Court “E,” which handles serious criminal offenses including sexual-based crimes.

Court records show that Jallah, 63, was arrested on January 7, 2026, following a complaint filed by Madam Sattarus S. Kennedy, alleging that her 16-year-old son was sexually assaulted by the defendant and others.

According to the Liberia National Police (LNP) investigation, the alleged incident and earlier accusations of abuse reportedly occurred in the Airfield, Sinkor Sharks Community area of Monrovia, where the victim claimed repeated contact with the defendant while performing domestic services.

The LNP further stated that its findings, including witness statements, scene visits, and interviews, established probable cause to charge Jallah and others with gang r**e.

The matter remains pending before the court as proceedings continue...30...

Monrovia, Liberia – June 23, 2026

Popular social media influencer and public figure Dr. Vicky Gray has been arrested in Monrovia following allegations of aggravated assault and related charges stemming from a reported incident in Sinkor.

According to court records the Monrovia City Court issued a writ of arrest against Dr. Gray and other unnamed individuals after a private criminal complaint was filed by Stephen Weah, Joseph C. Weah, Jr., and Emmanuel Buno.

The complainants allege that on the morning of June 21, 2026, an altercation occurred at a business establishment identified as Cigar Bar on 19th Street, Sinkor, where a confrontation reportedly escalated into physical violence.

They claim that during the incident, they were allegedly assaulted and sustained injuries, including bruises, scratches, and other bodily harm that required medical attention.

Following the issuance of the writ, Dr. Vicky Gray was reportedly arrested by sheriffs of the Monrovia City Court and briefly detained as part of initial court enforcement procedures.

The charges listed in the complaint include aggravated assault, simple assault, menacing, criminal conspiracy, and disorderly conduct, all under Liberia’s Revised Penal Law.

Our judicial correspondent said after initial handling at the Monrovia City Court, the matter was later referred to the Liberia National Police (LNP) for further investigation. The police are expected to review the allegations, gather additional evidence, and determine the next legal steps.

As of now, no formal trial has begun, and the allegations remain subject to investigation by the Liberia National police.
