Man, our buddy Russ has been prolific lately. Blessing us with an abundance of fresh and compelling tracks. Light Work is out today. Three tracks, two house songs and a rap song.

Gittitup has a funky and mesmerizing bassline. Other elements come and go, a spacey synth, short vocal samples echo on the left and right channels, sharp drums and shimmery cymbal crashes. It inspires movement and change.

Veronica has a methodical and driving drum beat. The keys are kinda dreamy and enchanting. The high tones of the guitar poke through and brighten up the track, overall it’s slower and more relaxing than Gittitip. That’s not to say it’s slow. The drums keep the pace high as the other elements dance around and through them. More relaxing than slow, more contemplative than motivating.

Mission Statement is Russ doing what he does best: having fun on the mic. A jangly sample mixes with adlibs and vocal echoes. Russ weaves around the beat with punchlines and references. Playing with words and rhymes. His straight-forward style comes across so smoothly it hides the complexity of his writing. Celebrating his gift and talent with levity and pride.

Check it out on Bandcamp.

ALL-AMERICAN GHETTO VINYL: LOW STOCK ALERT.
Our second record with our good friend and FPR Co-President Foosie came out in the summer of 2025. An introspective and mature reflection on Foosie’s youth, challenges, incarceration, redemption and hard-won freedom. It is a bright, poignant and thoughtful project. aiden christopher and Chris Lewis introduced us to the All-American Ghetto sound on this album. Big and vibrant, but also intimate and personal. The production feels theatric, but also humble. It works in a concert hall and around a campfire.

We will most certainly repress this album at some point, but I don’t know when. In the meantime head on over to Bandcamp or your local indianapolis-area record stores and buy a copy because stock is dangerously low (under 50).

Catch Foosie FEVERDREAM. Halloween on 10/10 or Rusty Redenbacher Is Nasty Slim’s birthday getdown on 10/17 Mousetrap Indy and grab a copy at the FPR table.

BANDCAMP FRIDAY IS TOMORROW. Bandcamp is my favorite place to shop online and Bandcamp Friday is the best day to do it.

On the first Friday of most months Bandcamp waives their usual seller fee and 100% of the money you spend on their lovely site goes directly to the artists.
