39 years ago today, one of the most underrated tag teams of all time “The Awesome Twosome” of Rick Rude & Manny Fernandez defeated The Rock ’n’ Roll Express to win the NWA World Tag Team Championship!

Managed by Paul Jones, Rude & Fernandez were a fast-moving, hard-hitting duo whose chemistry made them one of the most best teams of the era. Their reign came to an end when Rude left the NWA to join the WWF in May of the following year.

Nick Bockwinkel was born on this day in 1934.

The four time AWA World Champion would have been 91 today. He died in 2015 at the age of 80 from Alzheimers related causes.

RIP Larry “The Ax” Hennig.

Seven years ago today Larry “The Axe” Hennig passed away.

Hennig was a major star throughout the AWA and territories in the 1960s and ’70s. He held multiple tag team championships, including his legendary run with Harley Race.

Hennig also created a lasting legacy in wrestling as the father of “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig and the grandfather of WWE’s Curtis Axel.

Larry Hennig was 82 years old.

25 years ago tonight on Raw, one of the greatest Rock promos ever!

In preparation for Hell in a Cell, The Rock impersonated his opponents Kurt Angle, Rikishi, The Undertaker, Triple H, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. He incorporated their catchphrases and mannerisms into the promo. It was one of the most entertaining promos of his career and the video has been viewed millions of times.

42 years ago today The first meeting between Jerry “The King” Lawler and Randy “Macho Man” Savage took place at the Mid south Coliseum in front of over 8,000 fans!

The King defeated Savage by disqualification.

Happy heavenly bday to The Dynamite Kid!!! RIP

The Dynamite Kid (Thomas Billington) was born on this day 67 years ago in 1958.

He died in 2018 on his 60th birthday and the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed.

His nephews, Mark and Tommy, wrestle. Tommy appeared on AEW Dynamite a few years back!

34 years ago today, one of wrestling’s most iconic betrayals took place at a WWF Superstars TV taping.

On Brutus Beefcake’s Barbershop, the Rockers appeared to patch things up, until Shawn Michaels blasted Marty Jannetty with the superkick heard around the world and sent him crashing through the Barbershop window.

It was the end of their long-time partnership and the birth of Shawn Michaels’ legendary singles career.

And of course, Bobby Heenan delivered an all-timer:
