Caprese Stuffed Meatballs
These Caprese Stuffed Meatballs are a delicious twist on classic meatballs, combining the flavors of fresh basil, creamy mozzarella, and tangy tomatoes. Perfect for an Italian-inspired meal!
Ingredients:
For the Meatballs:
1 lb ground beef
½ cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
For Stuffing:
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
For Topping:
1 cup cherry or Roma tomatoes, chopped
Balsamic glaze (for drizzling)
Method:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, fresh basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Form the meatballs, about 1½ inches in diameter.
Create a well in the center of each meatball and stuff with mozzarella cheese and a few pieces of fresh basil.
Seal the meatballs around the cheese and basil, ensuring the filling is completely enclosed.
Arrange the stuffed meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are golden and cooked through.
Once done, top the meatballs with chopped tomatoes and drizzle with balsamic glaze for added flavor.
