I think in the new year we are going to introduce everyone (within reason, I don't even name all our chickens). Want to meet everyone that lives on the Fisher Farm? Keep an eye out for posts over the next week or so!
We will finish these three canine employees, move onto the last 5, then move on to the livestock.
First up, is another one the whole neighborhood knows because he has been running a muck since before Angel was born. Trigger is a beagle and just turned 9 years old, I believe. We got him as a pup when we were living in town. His favorite activities are following his nose wherever it may take him, acting doctor on the Fisher Farm, and snuggling with any creature on this planet. The biggest pain and the biggest baby, he is.
Next is Clay, aka Clayford the resident cattle dog. He is the security detail and official untrained herding partner. My sister brought him home, along with his sister a little over 8 years ago. By the time I got home from work, Josh had named him Clay and the rest is history. Clay is the one to watch out for. He is a "heeler" and he does exactly that, bites and nips "heels". He loves me something fierce and I have a very deep connection with him. He seems to be slowing a little bit as he ages, but he is still a firecracker. His favorite activities are chasing anything that moves away from him (yes even flying birds), giving the evil eye to anyone he doesn't know, and barking at existent and nonexistent foes.
Last, but certainly not least, is Butch aka Butch Boy aka Butcherdoodle. Butch is a mutt and i am fairly confident he is beagle x weiner dog so we call him a Weagle. He and Trigger are the Beagle boys. At this point I wish I had Butch about 10 years sooner than I got him. We went to pick up a calf a little over a year ago and when we got there, there was a dog next to the calf in a wrapped up panel, carrying on a barking. I didn't see this but Josh tried to pet him and quiet him, but it didn't work. I finally reached out to pet him and he quieted. The gentleman asked if we wanted a dog too. I said NO, we already have 5 dogs (at the time we did have 5). When we went to leave with the calf this dog screamed like nothing I had ever heard from a dog before. He brought me to tears as we pulled away. Josh took one look at me, turned around and we went back and grabbed that dog. He now enjoys following me, waiting for me to come home, greeting me, and eating cow turds. I think he would be upset in a home without cow pies 😆
We have 5 other employees that are next. Can you guess who we will introduce next?
