⛈️Early Morning Storms Cause Damage in Nebraska and Western Iowa ⛈️

A powerful line of storms roared out of Nebraska early Saturday morning, but began to weaken as it pushed into western Iowa.

Nebraska took the brunt of the winds, with gusts up to 91 mph causing widespread damage before the storms crossed the Missouri River. By the time they reached Iowa, winds had dropped to 73 mph near Blencoe and 70 mph in Halbur, still strong enough to uproot large trees in Mondamin, damage sheds and outbuildings in Arcadia, and bring down trees at Swan Lake State Park in Carroll.

If you have photos of damage from these storms, drop them in the comments below.

Heads up, Nebraska! There will be an enhanced risk of severe weather Tuesday afternoon into evening across portions of central Nebraska. Here’s the latest:

🔥 Hot and Humid Air: The heat and moisture today will create an environment that’s perfect for strong thunderstorms to develop, especially in central Nebraska and into southern South Dakota.

🌪️ Storm Potential Builds This Afternoon: As a weather system moves in from the west, expect scattered thunderstorms to pop up later this afternoon into the evening. These storms will likely start off producing large hail thanks to strong upper-level winds.

🌬️ Threat of Damaging Winds Tonight: As storms grow and combine into a larger system (called an MCS), there’s potential for very strong winds up to 75 mph, especially in central Nebraska. This could cause damage to trees, powerlines, and property.

🌙 Storms May Linger Overnight: The system could last into the night, but they will weaken as they move into eastern Nebraska into more stable air.
