On Wednesday, July 24, from 5 PM to 9 PM, the North Port community is invited to Wings & Rings for the annual Tip-a-Cop fundraiser.
Officers from the North Port Police Department will trade their uniforms for aprons, serving guests to raise funds for Special Olympics Florida.
Throughout the evening, these officers will act as "celebrity servers," engaging with patrons and collecting "tips" that directly benefit Special Olympics.
These donations support programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities, enabling them to train, compete, and thrive in a supportive environment.
Special Olympics Florida offers year-round sports training and competitions across more than 30 Olympic-style events.
Beyond athletics, it fosters confidence, inclusion, and leadership skills, creating a community where individuals with intellectual disabilities can excel both on and off the field.
For many athletes, the organization serves as a gateway to new friendships, improved health, and a sense of belonging.
The Tip-a-Cop event is part of a broader effort by law enforcement agencies statewide to support Special Olympics through the Law Enforcement Torch Run initiative. These efforts raise critical funds to cover uniforms, training, travel, and health services for the athletes—all at no cost to their families.
This event is more than just a dinner outing—it's an opportunity for the North Port community to unite, enjoy delicious wings, and support a mission rooted in dignity and inclusion.
So bring your appetite and generosity.
Tip generously, share a smile with a local officer, and help make a difference in the lives of thousands of Florida athletes on July 24 at Wings & Rings.
