While Norwood Library is closed, as are all of the other BCCLS libraries, there are many great links you can click on so that you can do things right from your home. We will be adding a few different links from time to time, and today the link is to the main BCCLS page. We hope that everyone is keeping safe at this scary time. It is very hard to keep busy, day-in and day-out while at home. We are going to do our best to share resources, ideas, links to all things virtual to help pass the time.

Don't forget that with your library card, you have access to dozens of magazines on your ipad, laptop or desktop. Below is the link through the BCCLS site. The great thing is there is no wait time, you can download the magazine to your device and read it at your leisure.

Good Things Take Time…. an update from the Norwood Public Library

On July 20, 2019 a water pipe burst at the Norwood Public Library and although the Fire Department, Police and DPW responded within minutes of the alarm, the damage was extensive. Water flooded the first floor and traveled down through the ceiling ruining a majority of the lower level as well.

The Library Board of Trustees worked tirelessly for months along with the DPW to salvage as much as possible.

Flood renumeration services were on site for 4 weeks. They completed water extraction, drying & dehumidifying of the main and lower levels of the building. Unfortunately most of the furniture, shelving, circulation desks, ceiling, walls, flooring, carpeting and everyday materials were ruined. Some books and DVD’s were damaged, but fortunately most of the 30,000-book collection was saved.

The Library Board and Staff, in conjunction with the Mayor, Borough Staff and the DPW have been working diligently since the flood to bring the library back to life. The work continues daily, and when completed the library will be better than ever: with new carpets, shelving, furnishings and internet network for our patrons!

As the repairs continue, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The goal is to support our wonderful town and patrons with a beautifully refurbished library. The NPL thanks you for your patience and looks forward to announcing the Library’s reopening date. As you can see, good things take time.
