Join us on Saturday, March 11th at the winter conference. We are going to be leading an amazing conversation on H**p, Sustainability, and The Environment.

It was one of the first plants to be spun into usable fiber 10,000 years ago. It has been grown and used all over the world. The first president of the United States of America even grew it as a cash crop.

Is it cotton? No—it’s h**p.

H**p was a major cash crop in the Eastern United States until 1937, when it was outlawed as a Schedule 1 controlled substance. Since then, h**p has been illegal to grow and sell until almost a year ago, when President Trump signed the 2018 Farm Bill, legalizing h**p by removing it from the Controlled Substances Act. Late last month, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced a program that would allow farmers to grow h**p under federally-approved plans and make h**p producers eligible for a number of agricultural programs. This is big news for the h**p industry.

Our water, air, and land are being polluted more than ever by textile manufacturing byproducts and plastic microparticles. With its resurgence as a cash crop and ability to integrate into regenerative farming practices, h**p might be the answer to our problems.

Participant Application out now!!

UConn Extension, in partnership with a BIPOC-led organization, E&G Community Builders, is planning to implement the Leaders of Color in Conservation Training Project (LOCCT). This project will train and mentor 8 people of color in conservation planning and common practices on small farms. After completing an intensive training with 10 hours of virtual courses and 2 farm field days, each trainee will – through a summer field practicum – function as front-line technical advisors. The trainees will have the support of an expert conservation specialist throughout their interaction with BIPOC farmers during the summer field practicum. During their field practicum, each trainee will work with 3 BIPOC farmers to identify conservation goals, identify and prioritize the natural resource issues and goals the BIPOC farmers hope to address within 3 years, take note of any new knowledge (ancestral, cultural) about conservation that BIPOC farmers share, identify conservation options to address their natural resource issues, introduce them to the EQIP program and application process, and facilitate introductions with staff in local NRCS service centers. At the end of the summer there will be a capstone event to share results of the training experience. Made possible through federal funding: USDA-NRCS Award

Join us, from Friday, December 9 - Sunday, December 11, visit the first of its kind in Cannabis Educational Retail Experience in New York State, a Workforce Development fair and Community activation event in The Bronx at The Historic Bronx Post Office at 149th Street Grand Concourse, Bronx NY.

Explore a built-out dispensary from the front of the house to the back of the house, learn about how legal dispensaries operate, sign up for Cannabis job training, and learn about job opportunities in the Cannabis industry! Good Moring all, is not that im angry, but i called this s**t out when it first came out that was coming to NYS. The community expressed concerns and no one took the time to ask us and they didn't listen. What do you have to say now? we knew this already.

The system is rigged. What else are they doing on the low with these so called Cannabis ? Watch out for the vultures. Let's get free
