Hi, I’m Skyler. I’m an American living on the Ionian coast of southern Italy. Lots of new followers here :)

-My husband is a 3rd generation olive farmer from Calabria, and in 2017 we started rehabilitating his family’s century-old trees
-That grew into our award-winning olive oil brand EXAU, and a book with Penguin Random House

Day 3 of Americans visiting Calabria, Italy 🇮🇹🇺🇸❤️‍🔥

There are very good summer days and then there are perfect summer days. This was a perfect summer day.

At this point it’s basically a food tour, which is fine with me. Lunch at Max’s in Cirò with a nearly obnoxious amount of fresh vegetables. Then our olive groves, where we finally introduced them to the trees we’ve been harvesting for eight years. Then a tasting and a cellar tour at one of our favorite wineries, where I almost took a nap on a chiller because of the heat.

But the cherry on top was the very sweet woman who let us see Capo Colonna at sunset even though the park was closing. Can you believe someone sailed ships over here a gazillion years ago and went yeah, you know what, let’s build a temple right there.

-First breakfast at the bar.
-Pizzo for tartufo di pizzo.
-Down the coast to Scilla because Eva wanted to see the monster that lives under the rock, she’s very into the Odyssey right now.
-Swordfish sandwiches in Chianalea.
-Gelato in Reggio on the way home, which is the best in Italy.

Here’s to cosplaying as retirees for 72 hours more often. Save this post. If you ever drive down from Naples this is the order to visit these places.
