I keep hearing about high-profile missing persons cases that dominate the news cycle, and it got me wondering:

What makes one missing person’s story go viral while another struggles to get attention?

Amy Hilliard disappeared from Oakland on March 25, 2026.

She was captured on surveillance footage the day she vanished.

She left behind her phone, wallet, keys, and purse.

Months later, she still hasn’t been found.

Amy is a wife, a mother of two, and co-owner of Farley’s Coffee in Oakland and San Francisco. Her family, friends, and community continue searching for answers.

I put together a short overview of her case because outside of the Bay Area, many people have never heard her name.

Most people have never heard of Ana Barbosa.

Ana disappeared from Bakersfield on May 6, 2024, just days before Mother’s Day.

More than two years later, her family is still searching for answers.

I’ve spent the last few years focused on college and family, but cases like Ana’s are the reason I started creating missing persons awareness content in the first place. Sometimes all it takes is getting the right story in front of the right person.

Anna’s story hits close to home.

As a Bakersfield resident, seeing her face and knowing she still hasn’t been found is heartbreaking.

Ana Barbosa was last seen in Bakersfield on May 6, 2024, and her loved ones are still searching for answers.

Over the past few years, I’ve spent a lot of time developing my research, communication, and journalism skills. I think it’s time to return to sharing missing persons cases and helping amplify the stories of those who still need to be found.

Anna’s story will be the first case I share.
