On July 11th, 1982 fired founding guitarist due to excessive alcohol consumption while on the job, during both recording sessions and live performances.

It was also reported that Pete was constantly getting into heated disagreements with producer "Mutt" Lange in the recording studio during the initial sessions for the "Pyromania" album.

Though Pete's guitar work is all over the "Pyromania" album, he would be replaced by former guitarist (who contributed several overdubs/solos).
