On Friday June 27th at 627pm Florence County Dispatch and deputies were advised by Green Bay Police Department detectives of an ongoing homicide investigation in Green Bay. The suspect in that investigation appeared to have fled to a cabin in the town of Long Lake. Upon further investigation, the suspect was indeed in Long Lake and he had 2 felony warrants. Marinette County C.I.R.T (Critical Incident Response Team) was requested for assistance. The suspect was taken into custody with out incident thanks to the teamwork of all agencies involved. Names will not be released as this is an ongoing investigation. Other agencies who assisted: Forest County C.I.R.T, Florence County EMS, Florence County Emergency Management, Marinette County Sheriffs Office, Green Bay Police Department,Forest County Sheriff’s Office and Aurora Medical Center - Bay Area TEMS Unit.

**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**

Town of Wittenberg – On June 22, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Shawano County Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle crash near the overpass of County Road Q and State Highway 29 in the Township of Wittenberg. Initial reports indicated that the vehicle had two occupants, both of whom were injured. Both occupants were reportedly ejected from the vehicle, and one became trapped beneath it where it had come to rest.

Multiple deputies, along with local fire and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, responded to the scene. Upon arrival, crews immediately began efforts to extricate the occupant who was pinned under the vehicle. Both individuals were conscious but sustained serious, life-threatening injuries. They were each transported via medical helicopter to nearby hospitals for advanced medical care.

Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling westbound on County Road Q (Grand Avenue). Just prior to reaching the overpass of Highway 29, the vehicle left the roadway to the north, descended a hill, crossed all four lanes of Highway 29, became airborne, and rolled multiple times before coming to rest in a ditch adjacent to the eastbound lanes of Highway 29.
The driver has been identified as a 45-year-old female from the Mattoon area, and the passenger as a 20-year-old female from the Oshkosh area.

The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Wittenberg Ambulance, Wittenberg Fire Department, Birnamwood Ambulance, Birnamwood Fire Department, Tigerton Fire Department, Tigerton Ambulance, Wisconsin State Patrol, Medevac Helicopter, and Lifelink Helicopter.

At this time, no further updates are available regarding the condition of the individuals involved. The crash remains under active investigation, and no additional information will be released at this time.
