CR-V customer's top choice: Gas-only EX-L. The 2026 Honda CR-V EX-L non-hybrid trim is the most popular trim amongst Honda customers despite increased demand for hybrids in recent years. The EX-L trim is the fully-loaded gas-only model but still costs $250 less than the most-affordable hybrid variant (excluding larger expected discounts). Not only does the gas model give you a spare tire and a larger, more-useful cargo area, it's also better equipped with more luxuries like a power tailgate, leather seats, driver memory positions, a better audio system and more. While the hybrid is more powerful and more efficient, the efficiency gain is dependent on how you drive. Driving around town you can expect a massive 50% gain in fuel economy over the standard 1.5-liter turbocharged gas model. However, if you do mostly highway driving the fuel savings is less than 10%, which might not be worth the added cost.

Unlike past PreRunners, this generation only comes with two doors, an extended cab with no rear seats, no rear door and is only 4x2. While there’s lots of practical space behind the front seats, it is pretty difficult to access.
