Danny Carver aka Wood Carver, and his friend and drummer Mike Lomax, took a break from working on their upcoming EP to record two favorite holiday tunes they play regularly this time of year. “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” features a quirky mix of instruments including marimba, kazoo, slide and siren whistles – and even a saxophone and flute.
Their version of “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer” has turned me onto this jingle for the first time.
“I remember hearing that song when I was a kid and thinking it was funny, although, we, in no way, condone the running over of grandmas by reindeer,” Carver said. “In fact, they wanted to bring awareness to this problem.”
