So I, Tractor, am down in Texas for a work conference and was able to sneak my way to the new Terry Black’s Barbecue in New Braunfels for dinner with coworkers. I have got to say this was hands down the best BBQ I’ve ever had. The brisket was melt in your mouth tender, the bark perfection, and the sides all kicked ass! The best part the whole freaking staff was welcoming and knowledgeable about their craft. The guys in the pit room took me on a tour and their passion for what they do was loud and clear!! They love what they do! The staff inside took the time to answer questions and build a relationship.

This whole experience was freaking awesome! One I will remember for a long time!

Shout out the the wives!! They let us do this crazy thing called Competition BBQ.

As Tractors wife says, it’s BBQ Daycare. Lmao!

🔥 LET’S GIVE SOME CREDIT TO THE REAL UNSUNG HEROES OF COMP BBQ 🔥

Everybody sees the head cook getting the calls, taking the pictures and holding the trophies…

But behind a whole lot of those cooks is a wife keeping the entire damn operation moving. 😂

Prepping. Loading. Unloading. Washing dishes. Building boxes. Running turn-ins. Keeping track of s**t we already forgot. Making sure we have everything we swore we packed.

And then there’s the job nobody talks about…

Accepting the 47th “Sorry for what I said during turn-ins” apology of the season. 😂😂

Because apparently when there’s 3 minutes left and a box still isn’t closed, basic human decency goes straight out the trailer door. 😂

And most importantly… allowing us grown-ass men to keep spending ridiculous amounts of money to cook meat in a parking lot every weekend. 😂🔥

They may not always be standing at the pit, but they’re a huge part of why we get to do this.

So today, give some love to the wives behind the cooks. Tag yours and give her some damn credit. 🍻🔥

And before that ONE GUY jumps in the comments with:

“I COOK BY MYSELF!”

Calm down, big dawg. 😂

We all know if your wife didn’t let your ass come out and play BBQ this weekend, you wouldn’t be cooking s**t either. 😂😂😂

🔥 WHAT. A. WEEKEND. 🔥

We didn’t walk away with the Grand Championship, but this one still feels like a HUGE win for 5XL BBQ.

At the NorUT State Championship, we put together some of the best results our team has ever had:

🐔 Chicken — 5th Place
🐖 Ribs — 10th Place
🔥 Pork — 2nd Place + PERFECT 180!
🥩 Brisket — 7th Place
🏆 Overall — 7th Place

And then came the number that meant even more…

703.

For the first time, 5XL BBQ has officially entered the 700 CLUB! 💪🔥

And that pork? It earned our team’s FIRST-EVER PERFECT 180! 🎯🏆

Competition BBQ has a way of humbling you. We didn’t win this one—but we got better. And for Da Gov and Tractor, that’s what this journey has always been about. Keep learning. Keep improving. Keep showing up. And have a hell of a good time doing it together.
