To my child, when I give you advice, itโ€™s not because I know everything.
Itโ€™s because Iโ€™ve been through pain I never want you to feel.
Iโ€™ve failed. Iโ€™ve been hurt, betrayed, and used.
Iโ€™ve made choices I wish I could change.
And all I want is to see you do better than I did.
Choose wiser. Love carefully. Hurt less than I did.
I canโ€™t protect you from every pain in life,
but I can share what my pain taught me.
If my lessons can save you from even one heartbreak,
then every mistake I made was worth teaching you.
