Markets were again sharply higher on Monday at the Oklahoma National Stockyards and in Joplin as well- check those reports- and it was also a real hot fundraiser at the Stockyards in OKC as over $56,000 was raised for the All American Beef Battalion! Ron talked with Jon Fort of the AABB about their mission to feed a steak to troops deploying or returning home- and he also caught up with Lt Gov Matt Pinnell at the event, too! An update from our earlier post about the fundraising efforts at the Oklahoma National Stockyards today for the All American Beef Battalion- over $50,000 raised today as this calf was sold over and over and over again which puts the 10 year cumulative total at over a half million dollars raised at similar sales each holiday season here in OKC- learn about these folks at www.steaksfortroops.com

It’s a special day on this Monday before Thanksgiving at the Oklahoma National Stockyards in OKC- the All American Beef Battalion has pulled their cooker up beside the sale barn and is fixing a thank you lunch for the buyers and Commission firms ahead of a Donation auction that will be happening at 12:30 today- this will be the 10th year that National Livestock, the Livestock Exchange and the Okla National Stockyards have hosted a donation sale of a calf- that will once again be sold multiple times
The first nine sales have topped $450,000 in donations to the mission of raising money to give a rib-eye streak dinner to troops either being deployed or coming home!

It took a while- but I finally caught up with one of the graduates of Class XIX of the OALP- Dr Myriah Johnson- she is one of 2 OALP grads of this class who have gone national- Myriah is the Senior director of Beef Sustainability Research for the NCBA
She could not be at the graduation celebration for Class XIX this past summer- so I presented her Graduation Certificate Diploma here in Kansas City at the National Association of Farm Broadcasting convention where she is on the program! Congrats Myriah!!!

Jerry Bohn- NCBA President and Randy Blach- CEO of Cattlefax headlining the opening General Session of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association being held at the Omni in downtown OKC

Jerry offered an update on the negotiated price efforts of the industry and the 75% Plan

Randy Blach told the feeders that inflation is here to stay for awhile- he also talked about the challenge of feed grains

He also talked about the labor problems in the packing plants/ saying Cattlefax had seen several thousand head fewer being killed than they had predicted earlier this year- still more cattle available than the packing plant capacity with the limited labor issues
