One of Patagonia’s most stunning locations 🤩 and such an easy hike!

📍Laguna Esmeralda in Ushuaia

Round trip, the hike will take about 4 hours but we did it in about 3!

Regular sneakers are just fine for the terrain

Also, there are a lot of stumps and rocks and one section with a steep incline but I do believe it is an easy enough hike for people of all ages!

Antarctica is permanently uninhabitable for humans, but not during the summer😍👇🏼

🚫 Humans CANNOT survive in Antarctica permanently throughout the year. With complete darkness during the winter season, temperatures can average around -45 degrees C (-50 F)!

☀️ But during the summer/warmer months (October-April) it is an entirely different story. Humans can and DO live in Antarctica for different reasons. Whether that’s working the gift shop at Port Lockroy, or conducting research at one of the many stations across the continent, people do live there temporarily.

🛥️ But tourists can also visit during the summer. No there are not places to stay on the continent. Meaning you will sleep on the boat in a cabin. There are some boats who offer an option to camp overnight on shore though!

Nothing will ever be able to compare to Anatarctica💙

I journeyed to Antarctica with and it was one of the best decisions I could have made for my Antarctic experience.

👥 The MV Ushuaia is a small passenger boat, capacity of 90, which allows for a more intimate Antarctic experience. Ships with a 200+ passenger capacity are NOT able to make landings on shore. With , we got to make 1-2 a day + Zodiac cruises😍

👨🏼‍✈️👩🏽‍✈️ Because it’s a smaller ship, you get to know the crew more personally. Everyone working aboard has a passion for Antarctica that is easily reflected upon their outstanding service and attention to your every need.

🚢 Smaller boats make for easier navigation around icebergs — meaning you get to see and do so much more! Obviously, everything is dependent on the ice movement so the captain must make decisions throughout each day on what activities are possible. This requires lots of flexibility in your itinerary.

🦭🐧 Getting to see the wildlife up close is also a memory I will cherish. Penguins, seals, whales, and birds are everywhere. You can still see many from the ship but not much compares to watching penguins slide on their bellies or a seal stretch and yawn mere feet away from you.

There is so much more to see in Antarctica that I am already strategizing my trip back!

Getting to this stunning natural wonder isn’t easy— which is why we decided ATVs were the best way to go! Info 👇🏼

⏰We were picked up at 7:10 am from our hotel in Cusco, drove 1.5+ hours through scenic fields and small towns, and had breakfast before continuing on gravel roads to the trailhead.

‼️Altitude sickness is no joke at this elevation, so pack coca chews or candy to ease the symptoms.

🎟️After paying the 25 soles entrance fee (cash only), we hopped on ATVs and navigated switchbacks to reach the base of the mountain. From there, it’s just a 5-minute flat hike to the iconic photo spot.

Rainbow Mountain is as breathtaking as it looks—just be prepared for the altitude and the adventure it takes to get there!

I had NO IDEA how wild this bucket list adventure to Machu Picchu would be! 👇🏼

Getting to Machu Picchu is known to be a bit of a challenge, which is why I booked our tickets through to make it as easy as possible for us!

The adventure started with a 3:45 am alarm for a 4:40am pick-up from our hotel. We then had a bumpy 1.5 hour van ride to the train station to catch our 360 panoramic view train along the Urubamba River to Aguas Calientes.

We THEN boarded our bus which took us another 25 minutes up a switchback climb to 8,000 ft. It was here that we FINALLY made it to the Machu Picchu entrance.

A little history: Once home to 600-1,000 people, Machu Picchu took 100 years to build but was abandoned as smallpox spread before the Spanish arrived. Temples of smooth stone, a sundial for harvests, and stunning views made Circuit 2 unforgettable—rain and all.

📌Best time to visit: June-December but maybe try avoid June crowds since our guide said bus lines can be up to a two hour wait!🫣

Here are just a few of the things that were ultimately deciding factors for us:

📍Location - El Convento is only a short walk from Plaza des Armas. On Christmas Eve, there is a big celebration in the plaza with a market and fireworks at midnight!

🥾Easy Tours - Cusco is the main tourist hub for visiting places like Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain. Both require a bit of a drive but most tours can easily pick you up from this location. You can even schedule your tours through El Convento Cusco!

🧖‍♀️ Luxury - JW Marriotts have a world renowned reputation for their luxurious accommodations and amenities.

🏔️ Altitude sickness- With a high altitude of 11,200 ft, we knew that our short stay in Cusco would mean nursing our bodies to stay ahead of the unavoidable altitude sickness. Their spa and extremely hospitable staff where key decision makers for both of us.

🇵🇪 Peruvian Experience - Regardless of our selection of tours, we wanted to stay at a place that offered unique ways to experience the Peruvian and Incan culture. El Convento Cusco has daily activities, a baby alpaca, and some of the most incredible food I’ve ever tasted at their onsite restaurant, Qespi.

Our adventure has only just started, but I’m beyond pleased with our selection. El Convento Cusco and its staff have surpassed our expectations!🦙
