For those looking to make a living in this industry!
1-You must have a love and passion for what you do, opposed to working in the industry for the money! The money will support the passion.
2-Own your commitments! When you take a gig for $X and commit then engage and own it. Ignore the next call for $XX, as this is su***de in the industry and word travels faster than gig calls arrive when you bail for a higher paying gig.
3-Shortcuts, there are none and don't waste your time or the clients money. The process is very efficient and has been for countless years. Only the technology has changed from analog to digital.
4-Trust me from experience! There will be both good and bad gigs, just a way of life at work for everyone.
5-Training: there is free training everywhere including online, use it! Knowledge is power!
6-Communication is the key to success: If you have a question ask!!! There are clients and individuals more skilled than you that will gladly share info.
FYI - There are other successful people in the industry, with decades of knowledge and they are willing to share as they will eventually retire
So to the future stage hands in the world, make these points your New Year Resolution and grow with it.
