Say hello to “The Meat Locker” from . 🤯
How early are you willing to wake up for barbecue? We heard the Butcher BBQ Stand in Wellston, Oklahoma gets busy quick on Saturdays, so we left Norman around 8 am to get in line. We managed to get first in line for what we’ve been told is the BEST BARBECUE IN OKLAHOMA, and here were our honest thoughts...
First off, the order:
• The Meat Locker ($75): brisket, pork, ribs, chicken, sausage, turkey, 3 sides, bread and tw***ies. Our sides: tator tot casserole, mac & cheese + roasted corn cob.
• One meat plate ($17 + $3 extra for brisket, burnt ends or ribs): one meat (we picked burnt ends), two sides (we picked the apple pie baked beans and another tator tot casserole) and tw***ies.
We wanted to try everything they had to offer and the Meat Locker was a great choice in achieving that. The stars of the show were the ribs, chicken and burnt ends. You simply can’t just find the quality you do here with those three in particular. Every bite melted in your mouth and if the line wasn’t so long, I might have went back for another slab of ribs.
Our entire group was also enamored with the jalapeno cheese sausage links, and if I could go back, I would’ve spent more time with them, but working your way around a tray that big meant some tough decisions.
The best side, for me, was the mac and cheese. It wasn’t trying to do too much, just did its job as a role player and let the starters really shine. I also liked the tator tot casserole, but it was too mushy for others.
I honestly did not know you got a tw***ie as a default dessert, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT for the Butcher BBQ Stand. Perfect end to the meal.
Overall, this was an incredible eating experience and I am already plotting my next visit now that I’m familiar with their game.
