From lighting setups designed to evoke the warmth of a midwestern home to the careful selection of equipment like the Canon C70 for optimal filming conditions, every decision was made to enhance the story.

The dimly lit kitchen, the lamp in the bedroom, the flickering fireplace, all hinted at the Congressman’s love of home and family.

In post-production, John-Clay skillfully crafted the footage into a cohesive narrative, complemented by color grading and sound design. The result was a captivating spec trailer that resonated with the client. Hopefully someday the full series will hit production!

Finding the right location played a crucial role in capturing the desired aesthetic.

After an extensive search, we found a midwestern home in southern Oklahoma. It was the perfect setting, boasting a large fireplace, functional kitchen, and large bedrooms.

From an art department perspective, we carefully curated each piece of the design to immerse viewers in the characters' lives. The daughter's pink-themed bedroom, the remnants of a missed birthday celebration in the kitchen, the beautiful living room, with many framed photos, emphasizing the Congressman’s love and value of family.

In our production team, Andrew Smith's adeptness as gaffer brought cinematic narrative lighting to life, drawing inspiration from diverse references to infuse warmth into each scene.

Hunter Starnes assumed the role of 1st AC, while John-Clay's multifaceted responsibilities as camera operator, Director of Photography, and AD ensured a cohesive vision throughout.

Benjamin Burnett's managed sound, and Kimberlie McCutchen was PA. From ReelCast, John-Clay Burnett was the DP and AD and Sarah worked as Producer/Art Director.

The script told the story of a congressman facing the weighty decision of what it would cost him to stand against the bailout. The director decided to focus on key scenes set in a home environment. This allowed us to encapsulate the essence of the story and introduce the lead congressman and his family.

As the production company, we oversaw the casting, and brought in Brooks Ryan and Stephanie Parker to portray the pivotal roles of the Congressman and his wife, and Charlotte Parker played the daughter. Their approachable, relatable natures that they brought to their roles played well on screen!

We had the privilege of filming the concept trailer for "Capital." Based on real interviews with the men and women on Capitol Hill, Capital is a (to-be-filmed) political drama about the brave congressmen that opposed the 2008 bank bailout.

These congressmen stood up against the combined powers of Wall Street and Washington D.C. and risked their political careers.

Heroism is not about knowing you can win a fight, it’s about fighting because you know your fight is right.

Traffic at the booth was busy and we made some great new connections. From networking with fellow filmmakers to engaging with top-notch professionals, I'm looking forward to what doors God will open next in the world of film post-production!
