01/06/2020

Some very interesting weather is about to come through these next few days.

1. Temperatures this week will climb, Thursday will be our warmest day with highs in the mid-60s with a few showers around. (wild-fire threat will be there)
2. Friday, a cold front will come through dropping our highs into the mid-50s (falling temps in the north) and 60s in the far southeast with scattered showers
3. From Saturday morning to early Saturday evening, as a strong upper-level storm system moves away from Oklahoma, we could see some precip behind it. At this time it is too early to get into specific details on amounts and specific timing, but if temps are cold enough across the state, we could see some wintery precip. Again this is still DAYS away from now, so this will be subjected to change, but we will be able to fine-tune information between now and then and be more specific as we get closer.

SEVERE RISK OVERNIGHT/EARLY AM

As we start to wind our way into spring, our first potential severe weather risk for the region takes place late tonight and into the early morning hours across portions of the state. A quick but powerful storm system will move across the state late tonight. As it does, showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout portions of central OK, and into much of eastern OK. As the storms continue to intensify, large hail and strong winds will be possible, with a very low tornado threat across portions of far south-east OK. The line will gradually move east into the morning as we edge closer to dawn, and by mid-morning, a dry-line will pass through, creating warm and pleasant conditions. Stay tuned for more updates and have a plan in place if you live in the regions with the highest risk of these strong storms. Stay tuned also to our FB and Twitter pages for live updates if needed into the overnight. #okwx

04/12/2018

HIGH Fire Danger is the big story for the end of the work week. Temps will warm sharply Thursday with highs in the low 80s, but the highest fire danger we've seen in years will be Friday, as a upper level storm system shoves a decline across the state. Highs will be in the mid to possibly upper 80s with a few 90s across the western half of the state. Winds will be whipping out of the SW at 20-40 mph with gusts close to 50. That same system will spark showers and t-storms across E OK Friday afternoon and evening with severe weather possible. Right now, main threats look to be large hail and wind, but tornadoes will be possible. Another sharp front moves in Saturday dropping daytime temperatures, and YES, another freeze looks to happen Saturday night into Sunday morning, but temps redbound nicely for the upcoming work week! Be sure to stay tuned for the latest forecasts! #okwx #firstwarnweather

* HEADS UP *
If you live along and east of I-35, stay tuned to the forecast. Models do continue to change on the placement of storms and dry line, but they do appear to be converging on an I-35 and points east type of setup for severe weather. NOW is a great time to review your severe weather plan. We will continue to have updates to our forecasts as needed. Stay tuned! #okwx

Big chase day coming up Friday. Strong shear, super low cloud bases, quite unstable all leads me to believe OK may in fact see it’s first tornadoes of 2018. Big question mark currently is how linear storms may want to go vs cellular. But seems obvious there’ll be a tornado risk.

Happy Monday everyone! Today marks the start of our spring season as we face our first severe weather threat this year! Overall potential is low for any high end severe weather, but large hail, damaging winds, and a low tornado threat will be present throughout the day. Right now it's pretty calm outside, but it's fairly unstable, and the warmth this afternoon will help spark more thunderstorms! Stay tuned for the latest, and share this post to keep everyone informed! :) #okwx #firstwarnweather
