Beggs Public School

Beggs Public School

We have been gathering information over the past few hours, so we apologize for the timing of this notice.

Due to several students and staff members testing positive for COVID-19, Beggs Public Schools will move to distance learning through September 8th. This is for all students: elementary, middle, and high school students.

Elementary and middle school students will return to in-person teaching on September 9th.

High school will have a Virtual Wednesday on September 9 and return to in-person classes on September 10.

For middle school and high school activities:
The directors and coaches will be in touch with their groups to inform you if practice will continue, games will be held, or FFA shows will continue.

Principals and teachers will share grade level information separately.

It is important that we keep the health and safety of our students at the center of all of our decisions. Thank you for your continued support as we all work through this together.

Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office

Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office

*Informational Bulletin*

Okmulgee County currently falls under the Governor's "Executive Department Amended Executive Memorandum 2020-01" filed on March 25th, 2020, with the office of the Oklahoma Secretary of State.

This order declares that "all businesses not identified as... Critical Infrastructure" should close.

There are MANY exceptions to this rule and these exceptions include "Community-Based Government Operations and Essential Functions", in effect this covers ALL county offices at this time.

There is NO REQUIREMENT for special "permits / licenses / letters" to be issued for ANYONE to continue with the normal day to day functions of their life, either related to home or work.

Many such rumors, ALL OF WHICH ARE UNTRUE, are circulating on various social media platforms.

Please do not believe the majority of what you see or hear on social media until it is independently verified by a trusted source.

Developments which are "verified to be legitimate" and are deemed to affect the daily lives of county employees will be updated and posted to this thread.

Elderly people and those immunocompromised are requested to stay home unless out for groceries and prescriptions. If you have family that falls in this category, you might consider helping them avoiding public contact.

Visits to nursing homes, retirement facilities have restricted visitation.

Elective surgeries, non emergency procedures are suspended for 2 weeks beginning Mar 25th

All gatherings of 10 or more individuals is prohibited.

Again, please refer to state websites for more information on essential vs non-essential. Links will be in the comments

2 confirmed cases of Wuhan Flu in Okmulgee county.

I have spent quit a while on the phone with the Dept of Health this morning.
After the new updated map came out they did not show Okmulgee County with any confirmed cases.

Here is what I know!
They do have two confirmed cases in Okmulgee County and the reason for not being on the map is due to the lag time between getting information from the provider to the Dept of Health.

I have also requested at this point the Dept of Health go from reporting once a day to twice a day. This should speed up the information being shared with them and getting it into our hands quicker.

Stay Calm, Stay Safe and Stay Aware!!

Just thought I would put this out there...

This morning I did an informal survey on my radio show and asked anybody that was 70 years old or older to call in and respond whether they want to see people go back to work or stay closed. 100% of the respondents said they wanted everyone to go back to work. I found it interesting.

Lewis’s words—written 72 years ago—ring with relevance. Just replace ‘atomic bomb’ with ‘coronavirus.’
