**The Day After... ❤️**

Yesterday, I released *Finding Mariella* into the world.

And today, I'm sitting with what that really means.

For so much of my life, there were pieces of my story I didn't understand. Questions without answers. Connections I didn't know existed. And a mother whose voice I never imagined I would one day hold in my hands.

Writing this book wasn't just about discovering where I came from. It was about making peace with the journey that brought me here.

There's something profoundly freeing about reaching a place where you no longer need to hide, explain, or apologize for your story.

You simply own it.

And perhaps that's what I hope readers take away from *Finding Mariella*. Not just the story of my search, but the possibility that their own story—whatever it holds—is worthy of being seen, heard, and embraced.

I'm grateful. I'm reflective. And I'm excited for what comes next.

Because sometimes, the ending of one story is really the beginning of another.

We often think our story begins with what we remember.

But what about the pieces that existed before us? The people, the choices, the circumstances that shaped our lives long before we had a voice?

When I began searching for my maternal biological family, I thought I was looking for answers.

What I discovered was a story much bigger than myself.

Today, as *Finding Mariella* makes its way into the world, I'm beginning a series called **Living Memory**—pieces of my journey, reflections on what I've discovered, and the ways our past continues to live within us.

This is Part One.

And perhaps somewhere in my story, you'll recognize a little of your own.

**It's here. Finding Mariella is officially published!** ❤️

Some stories take a lifetime to find the courage to tell. Others spend a lifetime waiting to be discovered.

*Finding Mariella* is both.

What began as a search for my maternal biological family became something I never could have imagined—a journey through identity, belonging, unexpected connections, and the discovery of a mother's story intertwined with my own.

This book carries more than my words. It carries the voice of my mother, Janet Duros-McClearen, through excerpts from the memoir she left behind. Although we never had the opportunity to know one another, our stories have finally found their way together.

Today, I get to share them with you.

Each of my books have mostly been written in coffee shops. Something about the atmosphere I can flow easier than anywhere else. “Love Thirst” was written at the former Culprit Cafe in downtown Omaha. “Finding Mariella” at Zen coffee and some spots in KC. My newest book is finding its way to paper today at The Mill Coffee & Tea and I love it. What a great vibe. “Healthy, Strong, and Free” is coming, follow and watch for my website to keep up, this one’s going to change some things….

There’s something about my style that I find my greatest flow in that environment. “Love Thirst” was written at the former Culprit cafe. “Finding Mariella” was at Zen coffee as well as a couple spots in KC.
