"What an evangelist," says Mary Sweetman, of Blessed Fulton J. Sheen.
Sweetman is a member of Mary Our Queen Catholic Church in Omaha.
In 1973, pregnant with twins, she was blessed by Archbishop Sheen. After that, she said, she tried to see him and hear him preach whenever she could.

Members of the Archdiocese of Omaha traveled as pilgrims to the Sept. 24 beatification of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen in St. Louis.

Barrie and Lynn Watson, members of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Omaha, were friends of the now-Blessed Fulton J. Sheen for 23 years.
The couple, who were married by the famous evangelist, attended his Sept. 24 beatification in St. Louis – along with their six sons ( who were baptized by Blessed Fulton Sheen), their wives and several grandchildren.
“I can’t tell you how blessed we were to know him,” Lynn said.
