Fall tutoring sessions are now open! This year, I will run TWO K-2 groups and TWO 3-5 groups. Dates will run approx. Nov. 10th-Feb. 6th and Feb. 16th-Apr. 24th, with holiday breaks based on typical district calendars. Space is limited to 5 students per group and there will be no 1:1 library dates - however, cutting from 12 week to 9 week sessions will allow me to accommodate 20 students! The findings on reading have grown by leaps and bounds recently. Many of the 'research-based' methods of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s have been set on their heads in favor of a return to phonics (finally!), and the science of learning to read, according to how the brain processes language.

One crucial part that cannot necessarily be quantified is reading aloud to children; letting them hear tone, inflection, fluent speech, and corresponding letter-sound patterns, and developing experential learning through listening to a variety of genres and text types is so, so important.

I have always told parents and students that word power is EVERYTHING. A developed vocabulary is the key that unlocks the door to learning about and wanting to explore the world.

Please read to your child! It truly makes a world of difference. 🌎❤️

Hi there, and welcome to my tutoring page!

I'm a 20+ year public school teaching veteran who is transitioning out of the classroom and into full-time, small-group and 1:1 tutoring, as well as digital print creation and online instruction.

This account will be a place for parents and friends to seek out information on tutoring, homeschooling, enrichment, all things gardening, and being able to purchase digital products I'm creating for use in and out of a classroom. I take inspiration from everyday beauty - clouds after a rainstorm, bees on my flowers, watching my tutoring students have a lightbulb moment, things my dogs have taught me - and much more.
