β οΈ MODERATE RISK (Level 4/5) of Severe Thunderstorms
A significant severe weather outbreak is expected across parts of the middle Mississippi and Ohio Valleys on Friday afternoon into Friday night. This includes portions of southeast Missouri, southern Illinois and Indiana, and central and western Kentucky.
π§ Affected Regions:
Ohio Valley: Southern Indiana, central and western Kentucky, southern Ohio
Missouri Valley: Southeast Missouri, southern Illinois
Tennessee Valley & Plateau: Middle and eastern Tennessee, including the Cumberland Plateau
West Tennessee: Memphis, Jackson, and surrounding areas
βοΈ Primary Hazards:
Tornadoes: Potential for a few intense supercells capable of producing tornadoes, especially in the afternoon and evening hours.
Damaging Winds: Widespread wind gusts exceeding 70 mph, particularly with organized bowing line segments during the evening into the overnight.
Large Hail: Hailstones up to 2 inches in diameter possible with the strongest storms.
Flash Flooding: Heavy rainfall rates may lead to localized flash flooding in vulnerable areas.

Afternoon: Isolated supercell development with risks of large hail and tornadoes.
Evening into Overnight: Transition to a more organized line of storms (QLCS) with an increased threat of damaging winds and embedded tornadoes.

St. Louis, MO: Severe thunderstorms likely in the afternoon with potential for large hail and tornadoes.
Nashville, TN: Showers and thunderstorms expected, some possibly severe with damaging winds and hail.
Columbus, OH: Mostly sunny and humid; breezy in the afternoon with a stray shower.
