📖 ONLINE ESL SUMMER BIBLE STUDY: THE GOSPEL OF MARK

Discover the Story of Jesus. Practice Your English.
Join us for a relaxed, friendly online class this summer. We will read the Gospel of Mark - the shortest and most action-packed book about Jesus’ life. It is written in simple, clear English that is perfect for ESL learners!

MEETING DETAILS
● When: Every Thursday Night
● Time: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM Pacific Time [Los Angeles] (+8GMT)
● Where: Online via Zoom (Comfortable from your own home!)
● Cost: 100% FREE
● Book: We will use a special, ESL-friendly translation called the NIrV (New International Reader’s Version).

● Read Aloud: Practice your English speaking and pronunciation.
● Learn New Words: Understand common English idioms and vocabulary.
● Talk Together: Discuss great leadership lessons and practical life applications.

🗳️ Election Day (June 2) is right around the corner, and as citizens driven by faith, family, and common sense, we have a profound responsibility to our communities. Voting isn't just a political right - it's a civic obligation to protect the cities where we live, work, worship, and raise our families.

When good people stay silent or stay home, a void is created. We are seeing the consequences every single day in the media: skyrocketing costs of living, rampant homelessness and fraud,
rising crime, crippling taxes, and families struggling just to stay in California. Darkness only fills the spaces where we fail to bring light.

I've spent considerable time researching the candidates, issues, and local races to cut through the political noise. We don't have to accept this trajectory as our new normal. It's time to Think
Different and Vote Different and elect leaders committed to making our Cities & State affordable, prosperous, and safe again for families and small businesses.

Why I’m choosing to Think Different & VOTE for Dennis Feitosa for Congress in CA-30
Like many people in Burbank, Glendale, and Holllywood, I feel the pain of families, creatives, and small businesses struggling just to survive while rising costs, public safety and homelessness continue getting worse.

After hearing Dennis Feitosa’s vision firsthand, I’ve decided to support his campaign for Congress. What stood out to me wasn’t “politics as usual” - it was his focus on making Los Angeles livable again - i.e. affordable, prosperous & safe for everyday people who feel overlooked by the current system. Dennis isn’t a career politician; he’s an entrepreneur and outsider who understands the real challenges people are facing on the ground.

I believe we need more common sense, accountability, and leadership willing to put people ahead of political agendas so working families can actually afford to stay and thrive again. If you’re frustrated with the direction we’re headed but still hopeful things can improve, I’d encourage you to take a look at Dennis and his platform for yourself. 🇺🇸

Is your campaign website a “Resume” or a “Rescue Plan”? 📢

I recently reviewed 19 local and regional campaign websites 🇺🇸 and the results were startling: Only 2 out of 19 (barely 10%) passed the 5-second test. ❌

Most candidates run for office because they have a servant’s heart and want to help families and their community thrive. But too often their websites fall into the “Resume Trap” - spending most of the page on biographies and endorsements, and very little on the voters’ real-world problems.

In a race where every second counts, you can’t afford to be confusing. If a voter can’t understand your plan in the time it takes to drink a sip of coffee… they move on.

This month's CBMC OC Quarterly Connection @ Mariners Church was all about Excellence, and featured inspiring talks from Larry Broughton and Dr. Andy Garrett. We Were Made For More! Here are some takeaways that hit home:

* Mission over Mediocrity: We’re not here to drift - we’re here to connect with God and change the world. As Larry Broughton shared, “Be Great (as a person), then Do Great (in your work).” Excellence starts with character before results.
* Ordinary to Extraordinary - with Jesus: God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called - David, Gideon, Peter, Paul. Pain, pressure, even rejection = Training ground. Character is forged in the fire.
* Identity > Performance: Your KPI’s, followers, views, revenue - none of that defines you. Our identity isn’t rooted in performance but in who God says we are. “God is with you, Mighty Warrior.” That changes everything.
* Excellence is a Decision: Attitude trumps academics. Faith > fear of failure. Courage over comfort. Excellence requires clarity, conviction, courage, consistency - especially under pressure.
* Measure What Matters: Pursue excellence, not just happiness. Measure progress. Grow weekly. Stay accountable. Focus on what moves the mission forward.

I left reminded that we’re called to live and lead differently - not mediocre, but mission-driven. Not fearful, but faithful.
