A little snippet of Madeline setting up her tripod at one of our shoots. Tripods may take time to set up but they're an essential part of getting our shots to be stable, smooth, and engaging!

How did Poor Bear Stories evolve the way it did? It started way before the company was formed in 2020.

After losing my dad, SCPO Dan Healy, in 2005 I decided I wanted to "pay it forward" by mentoring other Gold Star children and raising funds for the organizations that had done so much for me. Check out the accounts below to learn how you can get involved!

Next week, we'll be heading to Tampa again for Special Operations Warrior Foundation's 2025 College to Career Transition Conference (C2CT). In this annual event, SOWF recipients learn about essential skills and tools that will be helpful as they move on from higher education to the working world. It's also an opportunity to network with new friends and potential employers, and to even take part in a video resume that can boost them in the professional space even more!

Ever wonder why I named the company "Poor Bear Stories?"

This one goes a little deep.

Thank you to Bindra Productions!

Usually when we often travel long distances for film work, we usually do so by plane or sometimes by road. But this time, assistant editor and DIT Madeline Muralles took the opportunity to try something new: taking Amtrak on the way home! While she's used to travelling by plane, she enjoyed the opportunity to take a scenic and comfortable train ride from Pittsburgh to Savannah via Philadelphia.

And it's been said many times: it's not about about the destination, but about the journey.

Stay tuned for an upcoming Movie Minute on Madeline's train trip!

Want to know the real secret behind unstoppable growth?
It’s simple: niche down + show your work.

When you keep sharing what you do best—over and over—your niche starts watching. They may follow you for months or even years before reaching out.

That’s the long game of trust and credibility.

Stay consistent. Stay visible. Stay top of mind.

Your future clients are already watching from afar—waiting for the right moment to hit “call.”

Special thanks to Bindra Productions!

At Poor Bear Stories, we often use two types of lenses: zoom and prime.

A prime lens only has one focal length, but is also more lightweight, and inclusion of lower f-stops make them more suitable for low-light settings.

On the other hand, a zoom lens can be more costly, but provides flexibility and versatility when having to shoot a variety of shots due to having multiple focal lengths.

Ultimately, the best type of lens depends on your production and needs.

Stay tuned for more filmmaking facts!

We're back from the 2025 Gold Star Family Picnic! This event was a special one for many of us, as recently was the 20th anniversary of the loss of two of our fallen heroes: SCPO Daniel R. Healy, father of Founder and Creative Director Jacob Centeno, and SFC Marcus V. Muralles, father of Assistant Editor and DIT Madeline Muralles. Both SCPO Healy and SFC Muralles made an ultimate sacrifice with Operation Red Wings on the 28th of June, 2005.

Alongside Legacies Alive and other amazing organizations dedicated to fallen heroes and their families, we at Poor bear Stories strive to preserve and carry their legacies through the stories that we tell.

🎥 Because freedom isn't just celebrated.
It's remembered, recorded, and passed on.

In just a couple days, we'll be flying up to Pennsylvania for the Gold Star Family Picnic. Travelling is an essential part of the storytelling we do and it can be a quite interesting journey! Learn more about it on the "Video Production on the Go" segment of The Movie Minute with Madeline! https://poorbearstories.com/video-production-on-the-go-mmm-22/
