For 16 years, Milo was part of Carlos’s life by the ocean.

He waited on the beach while Carlos surfed, welcomed nervous beginners, and seemed to know when someone simply needed a friend nearby. 🐾🌊

When it was finally time to say goodbye, Carlos chose the place that had always belonged to them both—the sea.

On August 4, 2026, he shared an emotional farewell to Milo, taking his beloved dog into the ocean one last time on a flower-covered surfboard.

Milo had been battling cancer, and after 16 years together, this was more than saying goodbye to a dog.

It was saying goodbye to a best friend, a daily companion, and a beloved part of the surf community.

For Carlos and Milo, the ocean wasn’t just water. It was their routine, their memories, and their home.

And after 16 years side by side, it became the place where Carlos gave his best friend one final ride. ❤️🌊🐶

When Jake brought Buddy home from a California shelter, he thought he was giving an elderly dog a peaceful place to spend his final days.

Buddy was around 16, nearly blind in one eye, deaf, struggling to walk, and facing cancer. Jake expected only days or weeks together.

But Buddy had other plans. ❤️

After leaving the shelter, the exhausted senior slowly came back to life. His steps grew stronger, his personality returned, and soon he was happily running around the yard like a much younger dog.

He received veterinary treatment, including cancer surgery, and continued to improve.

Eventually, Buddy found a loving forever family.

He passed away peacefully on January 6, 2022, surrounded by the people who loved him.

Jake thought he was bringing home a dog to die peacefully.

Instead, Buddy showed everyone that even a senior dog deserves a chance to live, love, run, and enjoy the sunshine again. 🐾❤️

When severe storms hit, stray dogs have nowhere safe to go. No warm room, no shelter, and no one waiting to make sure they survive the night. 💔🐾

They hide under cars, porches, dumpsters, or anywhere they can escape the wind and rain.

That’s why unused public buildings could become temporary emergency shelters during dangerous storms. Empty community centers, municipal buildings, or closed facilities already have roofs, walls, electricity, and space.

With proper planning, rescue groups could safely bring animals inside and protect them from the elements.

One empty building could mean dozens of lives saved.

Rescue groups often have the volunteers. What they need is a safe place to use.

When disaster strikes, an empty building could become a lifesaving shelter. ❤️🐶

Millions of viewers first met Luna when she rolled onto the Puppy Bowl field in a tiny custom wheelchair.

What most people didn’t know was that her rescuers had already said goodbye.

Luna was a seven-month-old miniature Australian Shepherd from Perfect Imperfections Rescue and Sanctuary in Watertown, Connecticut. She was born with cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological condition that affected her movement, along with a severely curved spine and a permanent head tilt. She also struggled with swallowing.

But none of that stopped her from taking part in Puppy Bowl XXII.

Luna joined Team Fluff as one of 15 special-needs dogs featured in the 2026 event. With the help of a custom wheelchair from K9Karts, she was able to race across the turf. When the episode aired on February 8, viewers immediately noticed the tiny merle puppy rolling into the action with an incredible amount of enthusiasm.

Team Fluff eventually won the game 73–69.

But Luna never got to see it.

She had passed away in October 2025, roughly three months before the Puppy Bowl aired.

Because swallowing was difficult for her, Luna was at risk of aspiration—when food or liquid enters the airway. Before filming, she had already survived aspiration pneumonia and recovered enough to take part in the event.

After filming, she aspirated again.

This time, the pneumonia became too severe.

Despite the specialized care provided by her rescue team, Luna could not recover. She was only seven months old.

Perfect Imperfections had shared the heartbreaking news of her passing months earlier, but many Puppy Bowl viewers discovered it only after seeing her on television. What first looked like a joyful introduction suddenly became something far more bittersweet.

Puppy Bowl XXII brought together 150 dogs from 72 shelters and rescue groups, all with one important purpose: encouraging people to consider adoption and rescue.

And Luna’s appearance carried an even more powerful message.

A disabled dog doesn’t have to move like every other puppy to deserve a place on the field.

She had her own wheelchair.

Her own challenges.

And her own beautiful way of being part of the game.

The world met Luna after her life had already ended.

But for those few unforgettable minutes on the field, viewers saw what her rescuers had known all along:

She was tiny.

She was medically fragile.

And she still had a life worth celebrating. ❤️🐾
