I finally got back to the garage and got to work on the NASCAR Project again! I’m feeling motivated to keep going and have some new pieces on the way to keep the build going. This feels like a great couple of things to check off the list. It’s good to see it going back together rather than coming apart!

Now that I shared the bad, I will share the good! The actual racing portion of the night went well for us! We came home in 4th place and somehow I was able to run the fastest lap of the race! That feels like a small W for us. I had only driven about 15 laps on the track before the feature and spent the race trying to figure it out and for one lap it must have really clicked. The truck was big loose but I guess loose is fast. We can get the setup adjusted and be even more consistent. We will be back to Showtime Speedway for sure 🏁

I’m going to post the bad before the good. I will share the race recap later, but we are thankful to be home right now. About 30 mins into our drive home something failed in the left rear of our truck and left us stranded on the highway. Luckily I felt the vibration before it happened and instinct told us to pull over. As I was slowing into the shoulder the left rear wheel came off. We sat on the highway for a while, then did the whole song and dance to get everything hooked up to the tow truck. We eventually made it home near 5 AM. Trust your instincts when driving, we don’t want to know what could have happened had we not pulled over, or if this had happened on the bridge across the bay 😅

We made it to Showtime Speedway! Missed the first round of practice getting tires and safety tech, but made it out for round two and immediately felt handling issues. We think we have it corrected so let’s hope the race goes well! Looking forward to our first race at a new track 🤘🏻

We got the truck back out on track and shook things down before the season starts! We are racing next weekend and Showtime Speedway and then back at Auburndale Speedway twice in May. All the changes we have made seem to be helping so I’m looking forward to getting into a race and seeing what we can do!

Decided to check out Showtime Speedway tonight! One of the few Florida tracks I have never been to, maybe we should bring the pro truck here and race next weekend 👀

Here’s our plan for 2025! I know it’s been a while since we have posted much about our racing or other projects, but life has been busy in a good way so we haven’t had a lot of time to make content or really work on stuff. We are going to be picking back up soon though! I know the World Series starts tomorrow, and I’m very excited to watch it all, but this year it looks like we will not be racing the pro truck race. The costs to run that one race are high, and we have typically had nothing but bad luck at this event so we are just going to hang back and spend time working on the truck for the rest of the year. Speaking of, we will probably be shifting out attention to the 1/4 mile tracks, primarily Auburndale. It costs us a lot less, and is just easier in a lot of aspects for us. We hope to get out and run some practice sessions before the regular season starts to make sure issues from the last race get ironed out and work on our set up. No love lost to New Smyrna, that track still feels like home to us and of course we will be back from time to time 😎. Looking forward to another year of racing and building cool cars! 🏁

Watching this NASCAR race at Bowman Gray is like watching a $250k Crown Vic race 😬

Say what you will about Tik Tok, but we gathered a community of over 20k people that were interested in either short track racing or the NASCAR restoration. That app was an awesome way to get people interested in short track racing and spread the word about our local tracks to an audience that may never have seen otherwise. A lot of drivers may have lost an income stream that helps offset the costs of racing as well.

That being said, our content won’t stop and I won’t even begin to put out any thoughts about the app possibly coming back sometime. No matter what we are going to keep sharing our short track racing and NASCAR project content 🏁

Race update: the track got real slick after the rain and I don’t think I quite accounted for that after being happy with the practice set up. I ended up trying out drifting, I don’t think I like it that much. We started near the back of the field in the feature and were slowly moving the right direction until the motor started hiccuping on me coming out of the turns. It started to get worse and once I went a lap down I figured it was best to pull off and not be a hazard. Officially came in 18th out of an awesome 25 truck field that showed up. I’m not exactly sure what caused it, but we will find out, fix it, and be back next year! We plan to run at Auburndale Speedway a lot more next year so we will see you all in 2025!
