All:

Comm Day is now three weeks away and I have three updates and action items for you.

ONE: LIST OF SENIORS
Your list of graduating seniors (those officers graduating between May and next December) is due March 29--one week from today.

Those who have asked for extensions have gotten them, but please make forward progress as quickly as possible. Some of you have already sent me your list, and you have gotten a gold star.

Ryan Sheehy will order your cords and tell you the cost as soon as we have a total quantity. (There are volume discounts.)

TWO: RSVPs
Club advisers who are attending to cord your seniors are comped the cost of the tickets ($17 students, $25 professionals). Your graduating seniors, or any other club members, need to register and pay. Of course, your clubs or organizations can pay for your students if you have the interest in and treasury to do so.

The registration system (created by the hard work and dedication of NASSC) was put into beta test yesterday. And in 8 hours, and just with my page alone as the launch vehicle, we sold 10% of the seats. So, I anticipate COMM Day will be a sell out.

It is crucial that you communicate to your clubs and officers that they need to RSVP sooner rather than later if they want to attend.

Here is the link to the registration system. Please forward to your officers and club members--or any other student you want.

Hello NBS!
Just wanted to let you know that we are ordering shirts this week! If you haven’t paid your $10 membership dues and would like to still get a t-sh*t your last chance to turn the money in is this Wednesday November 16, 2011 at 7PM in the VAB. I will attach a picture of the shirt below! I am very excited about how the shirt has turned out! Wednesday is very important to attend if you are interested in the 5 day NYC conference in March. Its sure to be a great experience!
Also, NBS and RTDNA are teaming up for some events over the next couple of months. We are having a combined fundraiser at a sushi place near campus on November 29, 2011. At this event we will be paring up production students with broadcast students to create a buddy system! The NBS-RTDNA Buddy program should be beneficial to both production, broadcast and generalist students. The production student can help the broadcast student and the broadcast student can be the talent for the production student. We will be putting on several workshops next semester on everything from final cut pro to shooting more powerful images.
An event I am personally very excited about UCF’s First Annual Television Festival that will take place at the beginning of April. NBS and RTDNA is going to put on a 24 hour television festival that resembles the 24 hour film festivals that I am sure you may have heard about! Should be an exciting opportunity. More details to come!
The officers would love to hear any feedback or ideas from our members. Please feel free to contact me personally at [email protected].
Hope to see you Wednesday.
Take care. ~ Stephen Walker, NBS Treasurer

Hey guys! Thanks for all your hard work yesterday! In trying to wrap things up, I didn't get everyone's positions for credits! Can you please let me know what you did if you were in the studio (I got credits for control room folks)? Thanks!!

11/01/2011

Attention production crew--The show will be starting at 4:45PM tomorrow, so we're going to need you all in the studio earlier than last week. If you can all be there by 4, that would be great.

Thanks for being awesome! See you tomorrow!

Hello everyone! Last Wednesday was a great success! It was our first show and I am very proud of how we all did. If you could make it again this Wednesday, November 2, at 4:30 pm we would love to have your participation again. Hope you all enjoy your weekend.
