Every day when it's time to head into school, Buster turns into a total limp spaghetti noodle... his body just shuts down and he can't walk, even though he knows the routine. It's so frustrating as a mom watching him freeze like that, but it's his brain hitting task paralysis from the transition... not stubbornness. This is what severe autism looks like for us. 💙

The Marcus Foundation gave a $21 MILLION dollar grant to the Marcus Autism Center which is a subsidiary of Children's Hospital Atlanta. This is great news for the severe autism community. This grant will study how the brain works, genomic biomarkers, and what kind of treatments get the best response. This will usher in a wave of precision medicine that will be geared to treat severe autism, improve quality of life, accellerate learning, and how to prevent autism from becoming profound to begin with!! I am over the moon about this study and can't wait to get more involved in the autism revolution happening to help our most vulnerable and overlooked community.

All of my children are vaccinated and only 1 out of the 5 have autism but it is severe, level 3 non-verbal autism with global delay. If you don't know what global delay is, it is a cognitive delay and if you can't close the gap, it's a precursor to being diagnosed with intellectual disability. My son is severely cognitively impacted at the age of almost 4 and developmentally less than 1 yr old. I would like this cleared up for good and I am tired of all the keyboard warrior's stupid arguments. JUST DO THE STUDY OF CHRONIC DISEASE AND AUTISM RATES WITH VACCINATED VS UNVACCINATED CHILDREN. JUST DO IT AND PUT THE ISSUE TO REST.

My son has severe, level 3 autism and global delay and he always holds an "object of choice". His object of choice are the wooden ABC blocks by Melissa and Doug or Spark from Wal-Mart. What is your object of choice or your child's object of choice?
