I was taking to someone yesterday about smoky scents and quite a few popped into my head, but for whatever reason I forgot to mention "Fire And Brimstone" from Lockhart's Authentic Pomade. This is a fantastic smoky fragrance that is a bit different as the Iso E really pushes the woody notes. It has the slightest green twist to it as well. The EdP is absolutely stellar, and I find myself using it more than the soap. If you like smoky, scoop this one up.

"Suits" was released a little over two years ago if you can believe it. I got it to support the Shave Dad project and I don't recall if I even read the scent notes when I got it, but this scent is a really damn good one. I haven't used this set in a long time, so it was nice to visit again. It is a fantastic boozy, woody fragrance that leans more into a woody accord to my nose. It includes a touch of sweetness that completes it well, and I definitely appreciate how well it's blended. Azalea City Suds did an outstanding job with this one.

We took a random trip to Plymouth yesterday just to do something we haven't done in a long while. Plymouth Rock is treated as a joke by some, but I'm always happy to visit it. The Mayflower II was also in port (those are her masts in the background) and so my daughter and I paid to board her. It's maybe my sixth time, but I'm always amazed at that ship. It's a replica of the original Mayflower, and I have a hard time imagining myself sailing across the Atlantic for 10 weeks on that tiny wooden vessel.
Before we go somewhere, I often consider bringing a shave set along in case a potential SOTD opportunity arises. In this case, I briefly pondered which set would fit a historic oceanside town where I knew there would be ships aplenty. Duh, lol.

"Following Seas" is one of my absolute favorite aquatics for reasons beyond just the scent. I myself have worked on the same chart depicted on the label, and I now live in its vicinity. It is a fantastic fragrance, one that brings back a lot of memories as I both grew up and worked on the ocean. Great shave.

"Mirage" from HAGS Artisan is inspired by "Art Of Universe" by Lattafa, a brand new fragrance released in 2025. To my nose, it's a citrusy sweet, fruity, slightly powdery scent that definitely leans into Summer. I think I'll pick up this EdP it's based upon as I found it on Amazon for only $44. H•A•G•S of course knocks another one out of the park, over the parking lot and into the next city. Great fragrance on this set.

Merry Christmas In July!

"Cape Christmas" remains one of my favorite collaborations I've ever done. Aside from Doug of adoptedacressoap fame killing this fragrance, they are outstanding people. What they do is very near and dear to me as I myself was adopted when I was two years old. What happened here was Doug demonstrated that what I had in my head for this set wasn't close to the magic he put into this, and I was excited to break this out again. I fell in love all over again, lol. Great stuff. I also love how the label inadvertently matches the Cape Cod Beast razor I did with Alpha Shaving Works. All things come full circle, eh?

For this shave, I decided to do an updated version of a video I did in 2021-22 that is one of my more popular ones. I revisit the famous (and infamous) Arko soap, one of the most divisive fragrances in wetshaving.

Arko originated in Turkey in 1957 and quickly became a staple in barbershops across the country. It is a tallow-based soap that makes an incredibly creamy lather that is very easy to whip up. I personally believe Arko is a nice soap; it's perfect for beginners to the traditional wetshaving hobby. I honestly enjoy the fragrance myself and think that every wetshaver needs to try Arko at least once. Hope you enjoy!

This collaboration was one I was genuinely excited for on release. I love the scent of Versace "Eros Flame", and this homage was expertly done, a talent that HAGS Artisan is known for. Gareth from TheShaveSupply.com and damnfineshave are two awesome pillars of the community, and when this trio put their heads together, it'll be a good one.
"Pyros" offers spicy citrus, woody elements and an almost amber-like vibe to it (without the amber). It's a really great set, and this one proudly goes on the "Daughter Loves It" list. Great stuff guys, well done.
