Sleep affects everything… energy, hormones, cravings, mood, stress & recovery ✨

Here are 5 simple things that can help support deeper, better sleep. Which one do you need to work on most? 👇

There comes a point where you have to draw a line in the sand.

And honestly… I’m there.

Over the last 8 months, I’ve put on about 10 pounds. Not because I don’t know what to do… but because life got busy, habits slipped, and if I’m being honest… one of the biggest things I stopped doing was running my nutrition accountability groups. That helped me so much.

At almost 48, I know perimenopause is part of the equation… but I also refuse to believe this is just “what happens” and that I have to settle for feeling uncomfortable in my own skin.

I miss leading a group.
I miss feeling disciplined.
I miss the accountability.

And maybe you do too.

So after Memorial Day, I’m drawing a line in the sand—and I’m opening up a small text thread for women who are ready to do the same.

Not a quick fix. You should know that about me by now.

Just getting back to the basics that actually move the needle:

✨ Prioritizing balanced nutrition
✨ Tracking macros with intention
✨ Lifting weights and building strength
✨ Prioritizing sleep
✨ Managing stress
✨ Focusing on gut health (this helps our hormones)

If you’re in your 40s (or beyond) and you’re feeling a bit frustrated too… then I’d love some accountability buddies! I’ll make the plan/checklist and get things ready to start next Tuesday. I’m thinking we’ll focus on these habits for 3-weeks. Baby steps.

DM me and we can chat. I hope at least 1 person wants to join me! 😂 I need the accountability back in my life!!

I wanted to hike for Mother’s Day…they wanted to find sheds, so we both got what we wanted! I found my first elk shed, yay! So many sticks are disguised as sheds and it’s very annoying. 😆 Graham found the other 3 sheds. Hiking off-road is no joke! It was worth it for views at the top.🏔️ Happy Mother’s Day!

I’m currently working through my Nutrition Therapy Practitioner course, and this sums it up so well…

Nutritional therapy is about reclaiming your health and restoring your body’s natural function through bio-individualized nutrition and lifestyle support.

Not quick fixes.
Not chasing symptoms.
But supporting the body at the root. 🌿

These are the 5 foundations we focus on:

🥩 Nutrient-Dense Diet
Real, whole foods that give your body the building blocks it actually needs.

🔥 Digestion
It’s not just what you eat—it’s what your body can break down, absorb, and use.

🍽️ Blood Sugar Regulation
Stable blood sugar = better energy, fewer cravings, balanced hormones, and improved metabolism.

😴 Sleep
Where your body repairs, detoxes, and resets for the next day.

🧘‍♀️ Stress
You can’t always control stress—but how your body responds to it changes everything.

✨ When these are supported, the body has the ability to function the way it was designed to. This is the kind of “root cause” work I’m so passionate about. 🤍

❓Which one are you most curious about learning more about? I’ll share mine 👇🏻.

I don’t do a great job remembering to clean my washing machine. 😬

I finally did today—and wow… kinda gross! And smelly.

Also learned the hard way that a paper towel is NOT enough when cleaning the filter. 💦😂

If it’s been a while, here’s your reminder:
🧼 Clean the filter (use a shallow dish)
🧼 Wipe the rubber seal + door with a non-toxic cleaner
🧼 Run a hot cycle: ½ cup baking soda + 2 cups vinegar

I stick to non-toxic cleaner + detergent (without synthetic fragrance and chemicals) because what we wash our clothes in sits on our skin all day… and that matters for hormone health.🤍

Do you actually clean your washing machine? If so, how often? 😅👇

I’ve been trying to be more intentional about lifting heavier lately.💪🏼

I keep learning how important progressive overload is—especially at this stage of life. It just means to gradually lift heavier.

But I kept getting stuck…not because my muscles were done—but because my grip strength was. 🫤

So I bought these straps to see if they’d help…
and honestly? I think they do! Yay!! Anyone else use something similar?

Also a reminder I keep coming back to…
your muscles don’t know how old you are—so don’t be afraid to challenge them 💪

Anyone else working on lifting heavier lately?

I’m currently in a sleep unit in my Nutrition Therapy Practitioner course… and wow—this has been fascinating 😴👇🏼

1️⃣ Your brain gets a nightly “power wash” 🧠
During deep sleep, your brain actually shrinks to about 60% of its normal size.

Yep… it literally contracts. 🤯 Did you know that?!?

This creates space for fluid to flow through and clear out the “waste” and detoxes from your day. No deep sleep = no real clean-up.

2️⃣ The “stopwatch” starts in the morning ☀️
To sleep well tonight, it actually starts when you wake up.

Getting direct morning light in your eyes (no sunglasses, no windows, not even contacts or glasses) helps turn off melatonin and acts like hitting “start” on a 12+ hour timer for it to rise again later. We need the light particles to get INTO our eyes. Crazy, right?

The more I learn, the more I realize…
it’s these simple habits that make the biggest difference 🤍

Did you know your brain actually shrinks at night?! That one was new to me! 🤯

I’ve always been a fan of Mel Robbins, so I was so excited to go to her “Let Them” tour last night with a friend. 💚

The message was so simple, but so powerful.

👉 Let them.
Let people think what they want.
Let them misunderstand you.
Let them do what they’re going to do.

And then…

👉 Let me.
Let me decide how I show up.
Let me protect my energy.
Let me go after what I want—regardless of who understands it.

We spend way too much energy trying to manage other people’s thoughts, reactions, and opinions.

When you release that… you finally have the energy to focus on your own life.

Simple, but not always easy!

Did anyone else go to the show? Or read the book? I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t finish the book….YET!😂

I’m in month 3 of my Nutritional Therapy Practitioner course, and I’d love to start sharing some of what I’m learning as I go. 💚

One of the biggest takeaways so far…

👉 the oils in our kitchen.

Many common seed oils like canola oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil, grape seed oil, corn oil, safflower oil, and generic “vegetable oil” are highly processed and can contribute to inflammation in the body.

The encouraging part?
This is one of the easiest places to start making changes.

Simple swaps like olive oil, avocado oil, butter, ghee, tallow and coconut oil can make a big difference over time.

Have you already made the switch away from seed oils, or is this something you’re just starting to look at?

My trainer reminded us that we need to dig in and push the limit a bit when ur comes to weight selection. So today I used 40’s and 35’s only. That’s a lot, for ME.

Maybe it’s light for you, maybe it’s too heavy for you.
It doesn’t matter, as long as YOU are pushing harder and lifting heavier than you think you can. It’s NOT about
comparison with someone else. Do you try to push the limit a bit to see what you can do when you lift?💪🏻
