Don’t leave your garden bare this fall! A good cover crop feeds your soil, keeps weeds down, and sets the stage for a healthier, happier garden next season.

This is the 3rd year growing a forage friendly cover crop by . In January, our backyard chickens will get access to the area & have some greens to eat when everything else is dormant.

As we wrap up another September in the sunflower circles, our hearts are so full. 💛
Each session brought so much joy — the laughter, the love, the little moments captured among the blooms. Watching others make memories here reminds us why we started this in the first place.

See that bearded man, today is his birthday! 🎂

We were complete strangers until he reached out when I was trying to locate 3 dumped roosters. The following day on August 4, 2025, he showed up for me & these 3 dumped roosters. This entire situation was put in our paths by God himself & I am so grateful for him & his heart!

Happy Birthday, Buddy! Thank you for helping this crazy white girl & those 3 dumped roosters. You are one of a kind & I'm glad to call you a friend. 💛

On October 25th, I’ll be at Leftoverhomestead for fall mini sessions — including both regular & pumpkin head minis (or do both if you want!).
Misty’s beautiful setup will be there, and I’ll be adding a few extra touches to make it feel uniquely my fall vibe. ✨

As our sunflower circles have began to expire, we have had a few photographers wanting to use the sunflower stalks for autumn sessions.

Today, we purchased bales of straw & beginning on October 7, a sofa will be created out of them. This is the inspiration picture I found on Pinterest. (Dandelion Patina - Rustic Hay Bale Lounger) We will let the photographers decorate with throws/pillows to make it their own. (Putting it in the center of the inside circle)

After filling the bird feeders, we added cayenne pepper powder. Birds don't have the necessary receptors to feel the heat of the pepper unlike squirrels, raccoons, etc.

Some of the sunflower heads are ready to be harvested. We clean up as much debris before drying. They get put in these large, drawstring laundry bags & will be hung up to dry. Flower seeds for 2026!
