I’m so glad I discovered paddling and I kept with it. It’s so relaxing and one of my favorite ways to slow down.

How about you? What does paddling mean to you?

Anyone else take videos of everything, too?

I do it because I might miss something, especially when I’m visiting a place with manatees!!

But I also take time to experience wildlife and springs without my phone and without my camera in my hand.

It’s learning the balance.

CORRECTION: paddling to spring head is allowed before 10am and after 5pm! Sorry about that!!

I’m making this video because the last time I was at Blue Spring, I saw people carrying their boards onto one of the swim platforms and attempting to launch. Yikes.

That’s a place for swimmers only, and it could have been a dangerous situation. I saw a ranger or volunteer trying to reach them. We didn’t stay to find out and kept on paddling.

It’s important to research this kind of information before arriving to ensure everyone’s safety and so that our paddle privileges don’t get revoked.

Do you have your own paddling tips for Blue Spring?

Hello, my name is Jessica and I am “The Hiker.”

I’ve been on hikes where I’ve questioned if I even liked hiking, but more often than not I love the whole thing, not just getting to the amazing view or seeing incredible wildlife.

What about you?

All hiking in the video happened in West Volusia!

Yesterday I participated in the Wekiwa Springs Watch. I’m so glad I was finally able to go after months of putting it off.

It was beautiful out there, and I loved that I was paddling for something beyond my own enjoyment. I was part of something meaningful that helps protect our springs.

Have you ever been?

My life on the trails and water looks easy. I’m out here exploring all the time, but it wasn’t always like this.

I went through chemo, and I couldn’t do much during that time. I was just working on getting through it. I had to slowly work my way up to where I am now.

Being outside is less about physical ability and more about connection, peace, and feeling alive.

It’s all a journey. I hope that if you are going through a tough time, you can find your way to the other side with strength and peace.

When you paddle, you always have to watch the weather. This is especially true in Florida during the summer months when thunderstorms are quite common.

We are currently in a drought, but there have still been some rainy afternoons.

Today we just kept monitoring the radar and we stayed close to shore and our launch point.

It was a successful paddle and we had enough time to load up the boards before the downpour.

Anyone hitting the trails today? I know the temperature is climbing, but shady trails and evenings are a good combo.

Let me know your favorite cool and shady trails in the comments.
