Last night, while I was dreaming, I vividly remember talking to my grandma. I told her it was okay to let go—to be with the Lord and reunite with the family members who passed before her. She didn’t need to hurt anymore or continue fighting what was inevitably coming.
A few hours later, I woke up to the news that she had passed.
I’m incredibly thankful I had the opportunity to say one final goodbye. I’ve never handled losing family members well, and I’ve often avoided seeing loved ones during their final days because it’s so difficult. But I promised myself that when this time came again, I would face it—and I’m glad I did.
Working nearly nonstop this year and chasing storms almost full-time over the past two years has taught me just how precious time with family truly is. Life moves quickly, so when you have the opportunity, love your people deeply, hold them close and make the memories count.
We are blessed with so many wonderful people throughout our lives, especially within our families. I often wonder how I’ve been fortunate enough to have so many incredible people in mine, but I can thank only one person, and that is Jesus.
Rest peacefully, Grandma. I love you, and I’m thankful you’re no longer hurting. Until we meet again. ❤️
