E Tyler Burton

“Evidence of Us” is one of the most beautifully compelling and thought-provoking exhibits I’ve ever seen, as it displays what will become our future indelible mark left on this planet from our consumption of plastics, fast fashion and accumulation. These ‘artifacts’ will become the Fossils of the Future, existing light years beyond our generation.

Tyler has incorporated living, breathing works which represent the future life of plastic milk jugs, here in awe-inspiring sculptural form, bales of “throw-away” clothing with an internal heartbeat, and rotating Fossils videos that allow us to move both within the setting and erase our existence. The circular exhibition gallery is lined with cynatype blueprints of plastic objects to further encase the overall statement made by the artist.

Curated by Casey Lee, this exhibit is a Must-See and, for me, well worth a second visit. SBC Museum offers unique and interactive exhibits that trace history, celebrate nature and imagine our future. You’ll want to plan your time to take it all in!

An extended weekend of great art in and around town! This very unique and timely exhibition by Ellen Kahn of her lunar works is her first solo painting show and part of “In Dialogue” at Kippi Leonard Studio. Ellen’s show is named ELKA/TwinArt as she is, in fact, a twin and normally works with her sister Lynda.

Ellen pays homage to NASA’s Artemis program here, as it is named after the Greek goddess of the Moon, Artemis being the twin sister of Apollo.

Congratulations to Ellen for these aspiring ‘otherworldly’ works that truly draw the viewer in. Do pay a visit to the gallery to take this in an explore more of her paintings, along with Kippi Leonard’s dynamic abstract paintings.

As many of you know, the film Adele Cygelman and I produced premiered at Modernism Week with two showings and an additional showing at AMDOCS all of which were sold out. So, in response to all the requests we've had for additional screenings we have scheduled one more at the Palm Springs Cultural Center for Thursday, April 30th at 5pm. Both Adele and I will be there to discuss the film on a panel moderated by Conrad Angel Corral after the screening. Details and tickets are at the link below.

“Arthur Elrod: Desert Cool” at AmDocs proved to be another sell out for Adele Cygelman and Alan Kraemer! The prolific story of the famously creative interior designer who lived and worked in Palm Springs stands on its own as a perfectly executed documentary.

If you’ve yet to view, check back with us for a possible upcoming opportunity!

UPDATE: I’ve posted this reel 2x, with great sound, but no sound appears…apologies, frustrating!

Saturday at Desert Open Studios found me out and about at Kevin Nierman’s sunny atelier, Steve Janssen’s lively Janssen Artspace, Las Palmas Arts workshop studios and Via Negocio Arts District studios for sculpting, abstract painting, printmaking and jewelry.

What a day and an amazing tour this year! Big Thanks and much appreciation to Chris Blades for organizing this amazing tour of over 150 studios and galleries throughout the Valley. And for creating newly added Curated Tours to give us all insight and perspective into 4 of groups of uniquely themed artists.

Day 2 to follow!

Nutty, coming to the Cascade Lounge in Palm Springs on January 15th. Don't miss these guys, they are truly amazing. In the meantime, enjoy the video!

Check these guys out! This is my friend Sonny Moon's incredible band. They do amazing mashups between classic rock and jazz. There is nobody else like them!
