Hey gang, quick update, Space Cowboy sold out on October 20 at the Newport Beach Film Festival but there are still tickets for the screening on Oct 22! Sissy and I will be there both nights, super stoked! Here's a link for tickets on the 22nd https://nbff2024.eventive.org/schedule/66d29abc8c87b7001f35afe9

Film Fest Tucson https://filmfesttucson.org/ last night was awesome and a bunch of friends from Skydive Arizona came out to see it. It also played twice yesterday at the Hamptons International Film Festival https://hamptonsfilmfest.org/. Marah Strauch and Bryce Leavitt were there for that screening, can't wait to hear how that went.

Anyway, were off to a great start with lots more festivals on the way. I'll try to keep this updated as things develop 🤠

Flying with world champion skysurfer, Rob Harris over the Ventura Pier on a beautiful day in Ventura California. I started to fly camera for Rob in 1992 just as he was beginning to learn skysurfing. There was something special about his style and athletic ability that pulled me into competition camera flying and pretty quickly we developed a chemistry flying together. Rob became incredibly good and he led our team to 2 world championship titles and 1st place at the ESPN XGames in 1995. Later that same year we were filming a stunt together in Canada when Rob had a malfunction that took his life. It was heartbreaking, to me and thousands of skydivers who loved him, to his closest friends who grew up with him, and especially devastating to his brother and his dad and his mom. Looking back, I think we were all lucky to have him in our lives and I’m grateful that I got to be his camera flyer. He was a rare talent, and an amazing dude. Blue Skies Rob!

Filming skydivers with a chest mounted 75 pound IMAX camera is like chasing a Ferrari with a truck, and I love it :-). IMAX is an incredibly immersive format. I find, that if I can just point myself in the right direction, the IMAX camera will bring the audience into the experience. Its hard work, but the results are amazing.

This was one of the first cars we made fly wheels to earth. Its all about balance and directing air flow under the car :-)

Fun project with good friends for WIX. I was equipped with an 8000 lumens Stella Pro light that gave me enough light inside of the airplane to match the broad daylight outside. Pretty amazing. Normally, when I'm exposed for the sky, everything inside of the airplane is entirely dark. With Rômulo RangelAnthony Robert JonesMaxim Slobodian@thisisdebi, Joe Jennings (me :-), campaign with and 25 hard workers to crush an epic project.

Our Story

My name is Joe Jennings, I live in Palos Verdes, CA with my wife and two boys, and I'm a skydiving cameraman.

MY WORK I skydive with motion picture cameras for films, television, and commercials. I also help my clients coordinate skydivers, aircraft, and locations. To date, I've filmed skydiving stunts for hundreds of motion picture projects, and until 2011, I shot 35mm film. Today I fly with a helmet mounted RED Dragon camera and I LOVE the results.

COMPETITIVE EXPERIENCE

I believe my most valuable asset is the ability to fly the camera aggressively and safely. Most of my 10,000+ sky dives were dedicated to training as a camera flyer for skysurfing competitions where the camera flyer's performance is scored. I trained with the best skysurfer in the world and we won two world championships and gold at the Extreme Games. During that time I developed the muscle memory to fly 3D with a smooth and well framed image.
