People see a relationship of three and sometimes think, “That must be fun.” ❤️❤️❤️
What they don’t see is the work it takes to build something that can actually last.
The level of communication, self-growth, patience, love, understanding, trust, compromise, reassurance, and emotional maturity that goes into making a relationship of three work long-term is on another level.
You’re not just learning how to love two people—you’re learning how to understand two different hearts, two different perspectives, two different sets of needs… while also learning more about yourself along the way.
You have to communicate when it’s uncomfortable.
Listen without immediately defending yourself.
Recognize jealousy or insecurity before letting it become resentment.
Learn when someone needs reassurance and when they simply need to be heard.
Take accountability.
Give grace.
Compromise without keeping score.
And understand that fair doesn’t always mean equal in every single moment.
There are three individual relationships being built at the same time, while also building the relationship you share as a whole.
That requires a LOT of patience and an incredible amount of personal growth.
A successful throuple isn’t three people who never struggle. It’s three people who continually choose to communicate, understand, grow, forgive, and love each other through those struggles.
Three hearts don’t make love easier.
They make you learn how to love better. ❤️❤️❤️
