BOOOOM! Hathaway Bridge all LIT UP!

The Hathaway Bridge in Panama City, Florida! It looks AMAZING! Its been so long almost 2 long years since I took a lightning shot with the bridge. For nearly 2 years it was damaged by Hurricane Michael. Several broken destroyed lights made it a sad thing to take pictures of. Tonight more rotating storms formed around 10:20pm so I set out to set up at the bridge. Little did I know that I would have first cross the bridge then turn around and go back over the bridge so I could turn down old highway 98 which brings me to this set up area. I missed a few shots cause of turning around and sitting at the stupid traffic lights. Once I arrived the storm moved away quickly and just before I was gonna give up and head to the house I decided to frame up the bridge and hope for at least an anvil crawler. Well I got something far better! A positive lightning strike from the anvil that hit 18.6 miles outside the parent storm!

After waiting all day for storms to come I decided to go to the cemetery and visit friends I lost over the past few years. Its been years since I was last at the cemetery and would thought I would stop but to visit and watch the storms like I did year after year from 2005-2014. The storm formed about 1/2 away and threw out some amazing lightning and the thunder was a beauitful sound to hear again!

06/22/2020

More quiet weather today and night with higher chances of thunderstorms with an approaching cold front. Yeah I know a front in late june?! If it doesn't spark off some amazing lightning storms I'll go absolutely insane! This season has SUCKED. Let's change this

Very boring slow beginning to the summer storm season so well flashback to the best day of the entire year. April 23 2020. Wedge tornado/waterspout and intense lightning that followed that evening. Gonna be hard to top this but I will always be trying!

06/13/2020

I heard today we have a decent shot at some thunderstorms. So far I see nothing. I hope its later around sunset. Love sunset storms. Let's see what God has in store for later. šŸŒ©šŸŒ©

Tropical Storm Cristabol may have made landfall in Louisiana but his effects were far reaching as giant waves pounded the local beaches as high winds and a few squalls hit. Now its night time and the worst of the weather looks to be coming.

06/06/2020

Cristobal's non-classical, "lop-sided" structure is an important example why not to focus on exact storm track as expected impacts will occur well east of the center. A combination of the large convective band & surging tropical moisture should begin affecting our area tonight.

06/06/2020

Well bolo for these guys tomorrow!

It's good to note that this will NOT be like Hurricane Michael is no way shape or form. Just a rain maker with some wind. We got this. We aren't 850 strong for nothing

06/06/2020

Everyone get ready as tomorrow should be the biggest shot at what this tropical storm will bring to our area. I'll be fully equipped and out in the field. If ya see me out there come say hey! Effects from this storm include 3-7ins of rain higher amounts in localized areas where the banding and training of storms set up shop, very rough gulf with 12ft waves possible, minor storm surge 1-4ft and winds 20-30mph with high gusts in and around squalls. We need this rain badly so welcome it! See ya in the field Sunday!

Even being a 21 year storm chaser this was a first for me. So many times the rainbow never has an active lightning storm behind it. This storm was amazing producing a sunset rainbow with lightning

05/21/2020

I have seen some awesome storms today but only got a few lightning pics. This one however is a first for me. In year 21 I finally got to see a rainbow during sunset during a lightning storm. Crazy cool day

05/20/2020

While coming back from chasing storm on Highway 20 I cam across this accident on 77 South. Looks like the truck may have lost control hit the median and flipped into the south bound lanes. I know I called the truck a car but I hope the driver is ok.

05/13/2020

You know I'll be here covering whatever may happen this year but with 2 ask left and even a possible system brewing already it's time to make your list check it twice!

Sure could use a good storm. We need them bad. This fire season is no joke.

Wow the north side of Hurricane Island (shell island) is so torn up from Hurricane Michael still to this day. Amazing the strength to take down over one million trees here in this city alone.

Strong storms some with rotation entered Bay County in the afternoon hours. After the storms and rain cleared we saw a beaitful sunset before a lone wolf isolated storm formed and produced some amazing colors as it hit St Andrews and moved through the county.

Awesome photos from the storms today! Looking at dash video to see if there any good time lapse clips. Stay turned as video and pics will be posted to this page!

Thunderstorm earlier had some rotation on it as it entered Bay County just west of the Hathaway Bridge. No damage or any confirmation reported. I did see the storm the structure and the rotation. Nothing other than a cool rotating thunderstorm.

Like a roller coaster... last night marginal. This morning slight. Now back to marginal lol.

While the slight risk has been removed from our area, a marginal risk remains in place and isolated strong to severe storms remain possible this afternoon into tonight. The main threat (damaging winds) has not changed.

04/29/2020

So far it's looking a line of thunderstorms will be moving into the area about 4-5pm and sticking around through sunset. Well see if this holds but I'm ready for whatever heads this way

https://youtu.be/2rHGwTdXp8M my last and final cut of my documentary of cat 5 Hurricane Michael. This is the most intense weather in have ever seen and by far the worst damage I have ever seen as well. Not a day goes by that I dont remember the sights the sounds and the feelings of riding it out alone and living in the aftermath. We will never forget it even thought many already do.

Never before seen video and pictures in this final documentary on Category 5 Hurricane Michael. The insanity in the eyewall to the absolute devastation that ...

Possible severe thunderstorms scattered around the area late this afternoon into the evening. Last night it was marginal now its bumped up to slight... Although it's not as strong or as widespread as the 23rd I will still be watching it as it moves into the greater Bay County/Panama City area. Stay turned for the latest developments and watches should they be issued

A cold front will bring the potential for isolated to scattered severe storms to the region, mainly from this afternoon into tonight. The main threats are expected to be isolated to scattered instances of damaging wind and mainly small hail, but a couple of tornadoes across the region cannot be completely ruled out. The area of greatest risk currently appears to be across southeast Alabama and adjacent sections of southwest Georgia and the Florida panhandle.

Another shot at some severe weather. No where near as powerful as the 23rd but still I'll watch it and document it.

A cold front will bring the potential for isolated to scattered severe storms to the region, mainly from Wednesday afternoon into the overnight hours. The main threats are expected to be isolated to scattered instances of damaging wind and hail, but a couple of tornadoes across the region cannot be completely ruled out. The area of greatest risk currently appears to be across southeast Alabama and adjacent sections of southwest Georgia. This threat currently still does not look as widespread as previous events this month.
