Ambro Courage is one of our newly added and highly anticipated broodmares, Ambro is heavily pacing bred.

Letā€™s talk about herā€¦ā€¦.

Sire: Courage Under Fire - a champion pacer with a HUGE name in New Zealand and Australian harness racing. He was pretty much a folk hero there! Undefeated in his 1st 24 starts, winning 6 derbies. (He was small but extreamly fast and gritty)
and Courage Under Fireā€™s sire, In The Pocket, was also another major pacing sire. The Direct Scooter/Vance Hanover lines behind him are classic pacing families.

Dam: Ambro Isles, By Island Fantasy, another pacing-bred standardbred sire.

New Zealand pacing horses are also a little different from a lot of North American Standardbreds. NZ breeding traditionally emphasized stamina over pure sprinting, durability, racing on varying track conditions, and horses that could stay sound and race hard for years.

Ambro Courageā€™s personal race record was nothing to sleep on:
* 53 starts
* 10 wins
* earnings around NZD $51k

Her fastest recorded race time (her lifetime mark) was 1:51.3 as a pacing mare. She took that mark at Mohegan Pennsylvania.

Our intentions for crossing Ambro Courage to Rowdy Rawhideā€™s Regulator is to achieve a natural smooth lateral gait with an extremely strong natural gear!

A year of patiently waiting while this gal cooks up something special!

The queen herselfā€¦ Miss Chip K has been brought in from her lush green pasture to prep for her breeding to Regulator. Miss Chip K is a USTA trotting bred mare who has had a solid race career and is a proven producer of several successful racehorses. Itā€™s a great honor to have such a gem šŸ’Ž. We hope to pair her strong trotting genetics with our naturally gaited, speed-oriented SHOBA Stallion Regulator - Direct off of Rowdy Rawhide and out of Magic Black.

Letā€™s give a little update on MOJO; AKA Lilly. She is our spotted mare whom we adore! šŸ„° We bred Lilly to Regulator for a very special foal. Some of you may know but it has taken a lot of work to get this girl healthy enough to breed! Lots of vet visits, follow ups, set backs and leaps forward. Last year we were unsuccessful in getting Lilly bred due to her health issues she was having. We took an entire year of a STRICT scheduled diet and to rehab a hoof that continually had re-occurrences of abscesses. We were doing all of this on the side, while my husband and I both have full time jobs, and a 6 year old tend to. TIRED is what we are!šŸ˜‚ This year we attempted to breed Lilly again, and in true LILLY fashion she threw a wrench in it although Lilly was confirmed IN FOAL, she was carrying twins. With Lilly being a maiden mare, and the possibility of complications this could cause we pinched one in hopes that the other one would hold steady. Today we got the good news from the ultrasound that this procedure was successful and we have a healthy foal on the way! Say a little prayer for our sweet girl that she has a safe pregnancy and delivers a happy healthy baby! We canā€™t wait for this one!

There is something to be said when you look at this from a breeding programs perspectiveā€¦. You donā€™t end up with a tie line full of the same bloodline by accident šŸ‘€ 5 out of the 6 horses sharing this tie line are related. 4/6 of them are direct off our stallion Regulator!

When you see horse after horse carrying the same proven blood, it says something. It means that cross is desired, itā€™s trusted, and most importantly ā€” it has proven its worth time and time again. The kind you trust to tote them kids on long trail rides, and then take out to a show and grab a couple ribbons on after!

The Regulator babies continue to make us proud, and seeing them lined up like this reminds us exactly why we believe so strongly in this program. Quality stock, good minds, and the kind that catch your eye every single time they hit the rail or the trail.

Heā€™ll be turning one in just a few weeks, and he is growing into himself so well. Heā€™s easy on the eyes, built right, good minded, and in the absolute best home we could ask for.

Homes like this are rare to find, and we are beyond thankful that one of our babies found his way to North Carolina. Watching him grow and thrive from afar means so much to us.

We truly love getting messages, pictures, and updates as our babies grow up ā€” it never gets old seeing how they mature and knowing theyā€™re loved the way they deserve. We canā€™t wait to continue following his journey, we owe a big thanks to Doug and Carla Shew!šŸ“āœØ
