Since opening, many great projects - long and short term - have been worked on at Beaverkill Studio among my favorite an Opera/film shot in Virtual Reality (Opera On Tap's "Murder In Parksville") a film that was screened at Sundance ("Nancy" - for which writer/director Christina Chao won the Waldo Salt award,) "My Autonomous Neighbor," a doc on one of our favorite people, local artist, Tate Billings and of course "Chuck, Lost Object Found" a rediscovery of one man's life that passed through Livingston Manor. (and in which RJ got to play a rabbi!)

Sadly, one of our neighbors with help from his son has vowed to his death to make sure that we (Beaverkill Studio and Cabernet Frank's) are run out of town. In the face of this aggression, BKS cannot succeed. This is a fight for survival. We love Parksville but we are now at a turning point and ask for your help.... Please share this link as much as you can and donate if you are able.

BREAKING NEWS! Our three year long project is ready for the public!!

Read on:

An abandoned house. An abandoned past. “Chuck, Lost Object Found” is a documentary about a chance discovery that leads three women in a tiny community in upstate New York on a quest to piece together the story of a mysterious man that had lived there in 1985. Using the vast amount of ephemera that was found strewn around the house, they tell the poignant life story of a remarkable person who struggled to find happiness in an unforgiving world.

This film was co-created by Claire Coleman, Catherine Skalda, and Joanna Hartell. Shot on location in and around Livingston Manor, New York, its cast consists of local artists, actors and musicians. “Chuck” is a ‘no-budget’ film that was made using only artistic insight, found objects, and generous, motivated friends.

Showing at The Beaverkill Studio on Parksville, NY, on November 18th at 7:30 pm. 10$ suggested donation (no one will be turned away!) to raise funds for soundtrack licensing.
Refreshments will be served!

Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., has attracted Hollywood attention, bolstering its coffers and, to some extent, its ego. But the increase in filming has not come without headaches.

Did you know that a moderate size television or film production lasting six months can bring more than $3 million to a local economy in food and lodging alone?

Unfortunately, the Hudson Valley and Catskills are at a disadvantage to bring this kind of economic development to our community. While other counties in upstate New York can benefit from the credit, the Catskills and Hudson Valley cannot. As a result, our area has missed out on untold economic opportunity that embraces, but doesn’t exploit, our natural resources, brings millions to local businesses, employs hundreds, and helps to diversify our economy.

We’re working to change that…

Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther and Senator George Amedore passed legislation expanding the Empire State Film Production Tax Credit to the Catskills and Hudson Valley (A.9415/S.6987). The legislation has been delivered to the Governor, and we need your help to make sure it’s signed into law.

Please take a moment today to call Governor Cuomo at 518-474-8390 and ask him to sign the expansion of the Empire State Film Production Tax Credit Program into law. You can leave a message by pressing 2.

Thanks, as always, for all your support.

I am a local resident and member of SCDW, and although inactive for a few yrs, I must say, please do not let the actions of one man, jealous of your success and support, in light of his own failing business deter you. You and wade have brought a hamlet with a rich history back from the wrecking ball. Until two days ago I had NO IDEA there was a full blown green screen studio here. For a long time the county and area have been a draw for NYC movie production crews, and couple that with the strong theater groups in the area, and places like the FANTASTIC recording studio/mountain retreat in accord, called "the Art farm" and you guys could help the area become the next Woodstock New York . Please do not let this man deter you from your dreams, or win. The Catskills are changing, and some are too closed minded to roll with it and see the potential, so they must be rolled OVER instead. There are SO many opportunities your service can provide, and with the most beautiful and rarified geography in perhaps all of New York State in your backyard, you can't fail. It's all about networking here, regular advertising DOES NOT WORK. Meetup with local groups, and maybe do some projects with them to start. This will lead to huge support and getting the word out, to the RIGHT people. At that point, you can not lose. That's a mighty big flashlight to shine on that cockroach that's bothering you, (enter angry mob of torch wielding villagers) and you and the county come out on top. Thank you for putting your faith, money, and knowledge into our county. Give us a chance to show our support and spread the word.
Just thought you should see how you're being talked about by Joe.
