How is 2026 only less than 2 months away?! I feel like time flew by this year, like WOOSH. But either way, I tell clients all the time that now is when you want to start looking at 2026 so you know what worked, what didn’t, and what you do more (or less) of in the year ahead!

Here are the metrics I look at:
👉 Lead Sources (where are they coming from? How many do i have? 👀)
👉 Conversion rates & how to know which channels are most effective
👉 Year over year growth for brand awareness
👉 Revenue & sources (service offerings: which served and didn’t? How can I diversify revenue?)
👉 Content ideas and overall campaign themes month by month for the year ahead.

Join me for a FREE workshop on 12/5 at 1 pm to learn more about how to plan your marketing to have your best year ever - from auditing your metrics, to planning to accomplish goals based on conversion rates. I love this time of year for strategizing and mapping out some big goals! DM me for the link to join!

Don't know what to post? That's okay--- here's what you can do instead. đź‘€ (You're going to want to save this one friends!)

Your stories are a fantastic opportunity to bring your audience into your world, start conversations, and poll your followers. If you're not doing that (even if you're posting every day!)? This is your sign to shift your strategy.

Because here's the hting, even when I go DAYS without posting because I'm too busy, or client work is piling up... I stay connected through my Instagram stories. I share my to do lists, my process, my offers... and it keeps me top of mind with my audience.

Because I get it! We're busy business owners. (i have a 12+ hour day today myself!) We don't want to be on camera 24/7 or dancing for reels, and sometimes, we just simply...lack inspiration. (Just me?) BUT you can still be intentional with your content -- especially in your IG stories.

People need to know, like, and trust... so use your stories to build that framework, making your content more than just background noise. Share your offers. Share your lead magnets. Really bring people into your orbit. People want connection more than anything and when everything else is overwhelming, stories can be an easy way to build those connections.

Save this post to revisit when your stories feel stuck & follow me for more helpful social media tips for small businesses. đź’™

Tell me: what kind of content feels easiest to share in Stories right now? Behind the scenes? Promotional? Or are you just a re-share your post kind of homie? đź‘€

Who relates... 👀 Over the years, I’ve had one too many clients realize in Q4 that they were unprepared for the holiday marketing opportunities. usually letting the opportunity pass by, and try to just stay consistent instead of taking Q4 as an opportunity to push their goals and kick off their new year marketing.

And honestly? That’s common when you’re doing it all yourself. Not gonna lie, my own marketing often takes the sidelines because clients come first and you know, LIFE.

But here’s the thing: if you’re approving email drafts in mid-November instead of late October, you’re already missing the boat.

By the time you want to launch, your audience is already checking out or shifting their attention to January. You’ve lost those precious opportunities to convert them in the current year.

My Q4 Marketing Workshop is happening on this upcoming Tuesday, Sept 23rd. In just 2 hours, we’ll roll up our sleeves together and map out your emails + social so you’re not stressing in November.

You can focus on the Turkey Trot, the Pumpkin Pies, or the holiday cookies with the confidence that your business will still be working while you can enjoy your family time. Details in the comments!

🌟 It’s been a hot minute since I’ve introduced myself… so if you’re new here — hey! 👋 I’m Heidi.

I founded Heidi Schmidt Creative in the middle of the pandemic, after losing my marketing director job a week after the world shut down. At the time, I had a first grader at home and a big decision to make.

After college, I fell into nonprofit communications...telling stories, building communities, and learning how to make a big impact on a small budget. Around the same time, I was an old-school blogger with a curiosity (and obsession) for creating. Content quickly became my love language.

That passion led me into agencies and eventually into a director role, where I got to marry creativity with strategy every day. And that’s when I realized: this is my WHY.

✨ I believe in the power of small businesses.
✨ I live for the “lightbulb” moments when content clicks and makes someone feel seen, understood, or inspired.
✨ And nothing makes me prouder than seeing comments like “your social media manager needs a raise!” or hearing a client say, “Every time you send a newsletter, I book discovery calls.”

That’s impact. That’s why I do this.

Here’s the truth: social media should never be your only marketing strategy. But when you’re overthinking every post, feeling overwhelmed by what to say, or unsure if your efforts are even working, it can feel impossible to keep up.

The good news? You don’t need a multimillion-dollar budget to make marketing effective. Pair social media with email, and you’ve got two of the most powerful, cost-effective tools to simplify your strategy, reach the right people, and actually convert them into clients.

I didn’t set out to be a marketer — I studied political science because I dreamed of changing people’s lives for the better. And while my path looks a little different from what I imagined, helping small businesses grow and show up authentically is just as powerful.

👉 Follow along if you’re ready to feel inspired, confident, and consistent in your marketing.
