Good morning everyone. We are in store for a beautiful spring weekend, even if it's been a bit chilly this morning! Thankfully, there is no severe weather on the horizon for the foreseeable future.

I know I don't post much, but my birthday is on Tuesday, and I just wanted to humbly put into the universe that if anyone wants to help me celebrate as a thank you, or even just out of the kindness of your heart, I would really appreciate anything you're willing to give. I am trying to save up for a new saltwater fish tank, so any help would be greatly appreciated! You can donate directly to me using my PayPal at the link below, or by searching for radarnrespawns. Thanks for much for following me for the last year. It means a lot! Happy Spring!

Good morning all. As expected, a Tornado Watch has been issued for much of Maryland. A line of storms with embedded tornados is already forming to our southwest, near Culpepper, Virginia. Please stay weather aware today, and stay tuned, I may be going live soon.

Stay safe everyone.

A Tornado Watch has been issued for all of our forecast area through 7 pm. Please remain weather aware and have multiple ways to get warnings!

Update on tomorrows severe weather risk.

Good morning everyone. The SPC has increased the risk for severe weather in Central Maryland and the DMV to a Moderate risk, which is level 4 out of 5. This risk is rare for Maryland, but is even more rare for March. One thing to note, the SPC mentions a risk for strong, long track tornados, which is a significant note as this is very rare for the area.

I implore everyone to be weather aware tomorrow late morning into early afternoon and have multiple ways to receive any warnings issued from the NWS. Take preparations today, charge any battery backups you may have, change batteries in your flashlights, and prepare for the potential for power outages. This is starting to look like a real potential for a historic day for severe weather in the state. Please take this seriously.

Weather Alert for Monday

Happy Saturday everyone. Seeing a lot of posts about the potential for severe weather in the area on Monday, and the SPC has even issues an enhanced risk for severe weather for much of Central Maryland 2 days out, which is rare for this region, and even more rare for Mid-March. I will provide more updates as we get closer to the event, but I just wanted to make everyone aware to plan ahead for any plans you may have on Monday. As of now, the risks run the gamut of severe winds, large hail, and even tornados.

The NWS confirmed an EF-1 briefly touched down in Howard County during our last severe weather outbreak on Wednesday, but this set up is looking even more favorable for severe weather than what occurred on Wednesday. I work through the weekend, but I am off on Monday, so I will try and keep everyone updated on the latest situation, and my even try and go out chasing any cells that pop up. Stay tuned.

*SEVERE WEATHER ALERT*

Hello all. The NWS Storm Prediction Center has increased the potential for tornados to include much of Central Maryland overnight. A 5% risk area in this region is rare, and not something to take lightly. This is the same risk we were under when the Dundalk tornado struck last year as well as the Annapolis tornado a few years back. Please be weather aware today.

This is the same system that has been dropping tornados throughout much of the Midwest, and left several people dead. Make sure you have a way to receive severe weather alerts, ensure you have WEA alerts enabled on your phone, and ensure your phones are fully charged.

Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to provide updates throughout the day, but I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the risk and ensure you stay vigilant while out and about today.

A little north of my home turf, but it should sure make work interesting tonight. Stay off the roads unless you need to travel, and don't drink and drive, especially on nights with inclimate weather.

Also eyeing another possible system this weekend. Winter staring early this year to make up for last year it seems!

Seeing a lot of models starting to show up for the newly formed Humberto as well as a system potentially forming this week closer to the coast. There is a lot of talk about a possible Fujihara Effect between the two storms, which has the potential to make one of the storms do some crazy things. This potential interaction is making the models show all sorts of things, even one showing a storm doing a full rotation then being slingshot up the Chesapeake Bay. While I think this scenario is highly unlikely and it is way too far out to know for sure, I do caution everyone to keep an eye on the tropics this week into next week, as it seems like things are becoming much more active and things could get interesting. I will do my best to keep you all posted (if I can get some sleep for once!) but you can always find the latest forecast at nhc.noaa.gov

Hey all, I am working tonight and will be keeping an eye on conditions in OC overnight. Biggest threat is from the large waves and surge of water being pushed away from Erin as she passes by off the coast. NHC is only calling for 1 foot of tidal surge, but as we all know, it does not take much for many parts of Ocean City to flood, and for Coastal Highway to flood. If you are down the ocean today, or know anyone who is, make sure they are aware of the risk and take proper precautions just in case.

07/31/2025

Good morning all. I am a little concerned about the wording of the Flood Watch that is currently in effect for much of the area. The NWS is calling for the possibility of rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches in 30 minutes, which is rather extreme. They are even saying some areas may get upwards of 4 to 6 inches of rainfall from these storms this evening. With all of the recent major flooding events that have occurred lately, I encourage everyone to ensure you have a way to receive any flash flood warnings that are issued and please take them seriously. Even if you aren't experiencing flooding in your direct neighborhood, does not mean your neighbors aren't. Heed any warnings and stay home. If you know your home is at risk of flooding, it may be best to prepare ahead of time and have a plan to seek higher ground if the heavy rains affect your area. I will be in class most of the day unfortunately, but I encourage everyone to monitor their local news channels, be it TV or Radio, as they will have the most up to date information as far as any warnings that are issued. Stay safe out there.
