HeartScape Journey is helping children in Tanzania learn English as a Second Language (ESL)!

I took a break from Facebook to give myself time to write the next season of HeartScape Journey. Instead, I got married, traveled to Kenya and Uganda, and began supporting small projects through my nonprofit International Leadership Outreach (ILO).

The Creative Tree is founded and operated by Margarita, a Kenyan now living in Tanzania. She teaches ESL to children in her backyard.

Margarita created curriculum for her students using HeartScape Journey as the foundational component.

HeartScape Journey has come to life in this world starting in Tanzania!!! Now HeartScape Journey is connected to ILO!

👏 Shellie and I are returning to Kimilili, Kenya 🇰🇪 in December!

✈️ Most people that are interested in taking an international trip

😓 Are overwhelmed!

🤷‍♀️ Where do I begin?

🌍 And there’s fear about going to Africa

☑️ I will address all your fears

☑️ I will be going with you

☑️ I will coach you through the process

☑️ So that you will be completely prepared

❓Tell me a little bit about your connection with Kenya and your history with the country❓

💌 I was invited to teach ESL in 2012 on my first trip

👍 Yeah, I find that I’ve got quite a few friends who do that

👀 It just gives you a good opportunity to be able to travel around and see lots of places

👍 That’s one of the advantages of speaking English as a 1️⃣st language

❓That first trip that you went over there, how long were you there teaching❓

👉 I was just there for 3️⃣ days.

👉 I had planned to go to a different country and the gentleman that I had been talking to was going to go there, too, but he couldn’t get a visa out of the country

👉 I changed my mind at the last minute

👉 It was 2️⃣4️⃣ hours and I said, okay, I’m gonna go to Kenya 🇰🇪 instead

✅ That was a really great decision

✅ When I got there I just cried.

✅ I felt like I was home 🏠

✅ It was an amazing experience!
